For girls it can even be a tunic, if you choose to knit it a bit longer. The whole piece is knitted with 2 strands. Knit in the round.<br />*Knit 1 round, purl 1 round*.<br />Repeat from * to * 8 times in total.<br />Start knitting in stockinette.<br />Place marker (PM) in each side, with 47 in between.<br />Knit until the piece is 9.4&rdquo;.<br /><br />Continue in stockinette, but purl the 12 stitches in each side (6 on each side of the PM) every second round 3 times.<br />Cast off 4 stitches in each side, 2 stitches on each side of the PM = 43 stitches.<br />The front and back piece is knitted seperately for here on.<br /><br /><em>Front piece</em><br />Continue to work in stockinette, but always work in garter stitch over the 4 stitches at the beginning and end of the row.<br />Start working only in garter stich when the piece is 13.7&rdquo;. <br />After 6 rows, cast off for the head:<br />Knit 13, cast off (loosely, so the head will fit) 17 stitches, knit 13.<br />Knit 12 rows on each piece.<br />(Make sure to finish with a row from the wrong side)<br /><br /><em>Back piece</em><br />Continue to work in stockinette, but always work in garter stitch over the 4 stitches at the beginning and end of the row.<br />Start working only in garter stich when the piece is 13.7&rdquo;. Knit until the back piece is as long as the front piece.<br />(Make sure to finish with a row from the wrong side)<br /><br />Use the kithener&acute;s stitch to weave the stithes of the front and back piece together.
