If you want one garter ridge between each woven stitch section (see image of the newborn), just follow the pattern below.
If you want 2 ridges between (see the older model) knit row 3, 4, 7 and 8 as row 3, 4, 5 and 6. Meaning 2 garter ridges in between each woven stitch ridge. Continue on row 5 after these 4 rows, and go to row 1 and knit these 4 rows between each woven stitch section.

Place the stitches for the sleeves on some scrap yarn (these are the stitches between the markers.)= 47 stitches for each sleeve.

Continue in stockinette, knitting the back and front pieces in as one piece = 101 s.
On the first row increase 4 s evenly on each of the front pieces and 6 s evenly on the backpiece. ALSO, make 2 new stitches under each sleeve by making backward loops = 119 s.
Continue until the piece is 14.2”.
Leave the stitches.

Front bands
The front bands are knitted at the same time as the lower edging of the cardigan.
PM at each end of the circular nedles before picking up stitches for front bands. Use the circular needles used for the rest for the cardigan and pick up 62 stitches along each of sides of the front pieces.
Continue in garter stitch back and forth.
Increase 1 stitch on each side of the markers on every row from the right side.
Make 7 button holes evenly along one of the front bands after about 0.4” like this:
K2tog, YO.
Cast off all stitches after about 0.8”

Sleeves
Make 2 new stitches under the sleeve by making backward loops.
Continue knitting stockinette in the round, and decrease on each side of these 2 stitches every 1.2” 5 times in total. When the sleeve is 6.3”, knit 0.8” in garter stitch before casting off.

Knit another sleeve.
Sew under the sleeves.

Overall
Start knitting the legs.
We knitted stripes of 6 and 6 rounds (about 0.8”)

Cast on 40 s on DP needles US 5. Knit 0.6” stockinette in the round.
Purl 1 round for a fold up-edge.
Measure the garment from here.

Continue in stockinette. Increase 1 stitch on each side of the first and last stitch of the round every 0.8” 10 times in total (the pants will be about 7.9”)
Increase in the same way every second round 4 times in total= 68 stitches.
Put the piece aside and make another leg.

Place the legs on to the same circular needles. Start the round in the middle back. Make 2 new stitches between the leg in the front and in the back = 144 s.
You can keep on knitting stripes until the work is split into front and backpiece if you´d like (We recommend this for the largest size to make sure there is enough yarn)

PM after at the beginning of the round, and then 3 more times with 36 s inbetween to mark the sides and the front and back. Continue kntting stockinette in the round until the piece is about 15.7”.
Knit like this on the next round:
Knit until you´re 2 s away from the first maker, SSK, K2tog.
Knit until you´re 2 s away from the third maker, SSK, K2tog.

Decrease like this every 0.8” 6 times in total = 120 s.

Start knitting garter stitch when the piece is about 19.7”.
Decrease 8 evenly (4 on the front piece and 4 on the back piece (K2tog)) after about 1.2”. Knit 2 more rounds of garter stitch before casting off 4 s in each side, 2 stitches on each side of the 1st and 3rd marker.

Knit the front and back pieces seperately from here on.

Back piece
Continue in garter stitch back and forth.
You´ll now have 52 s
K2tog at the beginning of each row 2 times (one time on each side) = 50 s.
Knit 1.6”.
Cast off 8 s in the middle to make two separate straps.
Knit the first strap.
K2tog at the beginning of each row 2 times (one time on each side) after about 1”.
When the strap is 6.3” K2tog at the beginning of each row until 10 stitches remain.
The straps are quite long, and the buttons can be moved to fit longer.
