Knit 6 rounds.
This makes an edge you can fold and weave in later. We left it as we thought it looked nicer.

Switch to US 11 needles and start knitting the wave-stitch. It´s´very important that your yarn is fairly loose when you K2tog in the pattern below. Make sure to pull the yarn out properly before doing the knit stitch.
Round 1:
*K2tog, but don´t slip the stitches off the needle, knit the first stitch and slip the stitches. K1*. Repeat from * to *.
Round 2 and 4:
Knit
Round 3:
*K1, K2tog, but don´t slip the stitches off the needle, knit the first stitch and slip the stitches*.  Repeat from * to *.

Repeat these rounds until your work is 26”. You should just have finished round 3 before continuing. If you´re tall you might wanna knit a bit longer.
Knit the front and back piece seperately from here on = 84) stitches on each piece.
Turn and purl one row. Knit back and forth from here on.

Row 1:
K1, K2tog, but don´t slip the stitches off the needle, knit the first stitch and slip the stitches.
Row 2 and 4:
Purl
Row 3:
K2tog, but don´t slip the stitches off the needle, knit the first stitch and slip the stitches. K1

Stop when the work is 30.3”. Knit 3 rows in stockinette and place the stitches on some spare needles.

Knit the back piece:
Purl 1 row (start from the same direction as you did on the front piece).
Knit like on the front piece, but switch rows 1 and 3.

Use the kitcheners stitch to weave the 28 stitches in each side together.
Place the rest of the stitches on the same circular needles. Pick up 2 stitches in each side of the neck opening and knit 6 rounds. Cast off.

Sleeves
Pick up 61 stitches around the arm hole.
Place a marker (PM) at the beginning of the round. Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the PM every 1” 11 times in total.
Knit until the sleeve is 11.8”.
Purl 1 round.
Knit 4 rounds. Cast off.

If you want neat edges, fold along the purled round around the sleeves and at the beginning of the body piece and assemble.

The chest measurment you have listed, is this just across the front or all the way around the chest?
Thanks :)

Love this pattern, thank you for making it available.

The pattern says Yarn 550/700. Is this the amount required and if so is this yards or metres?
Thanks

It is gram, thanks for noticing :)

The chest measurement you have listed for the L/XL is the same as for the S/M.

Can you check that for me, I'm not sure if I have to purchase the pattern or can use the free one.

I'm beginner and have hard time on following some of the parts.

Could anybody teach me what does it mean? ;

*K2tog, but don't slip the stitches off the needle, knit the first stitch ans slip the stitches. K1*

Is that mean knit one more before slip off with the right needle still on left needle and slip the stitches all together?

januar 10, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJamie

You knit 2 together and then knit 1 in the first stitch of the 2 you knittet together. Then slip the 2 new stitche soff the needle.

Thank you so much for answering. I have one more question.

Do I use DPN size 10 for the sleeve part?

Thanks :)

Love the sweater! However, when I printed the pattern, the font color was so light I cannot read it! Is it possible for you to use a different color?

Sorry, but we can´t. Copy it into word and make it darker if you need to:)

I am new at knitting and I love this pattern but I am having trouble understanding some things; 1) after knitting front and then going to back, I leave yarn attacked how do I begin with new yarn? 2)what is the kitcheners stitch? 3) After I complete front and back separate do I sew these sides together and then where are my shoulder seams and what and where are the 28 stitches ( sorry but I am lost)? Then I am to pick up stitches on circular needle and do neck how many stitches will be on neck?
Sorry to be so much trouble.

You have to cut the yarn. Look up kitchener´s stich on youtube.com. You assemble the shoulders using this stitch. The remainings will make the neck.
This is not our easiest pattern, but the things you wonder about will be more obvious once you knit:)

Hello,
I don't think I'm blind but I don't see any instructions for the L/XL version. I will pay if necessary.
Thanks. Carol

The L/XL is the free version above :)

Hello, I'm looking at the different yarn weights that we can use, and am wondering if you always use just one strand of yarn and the same size needles each time. I was thinking of using the chunky yarn, but imagine that it would look different to the jumper in the pictures if that is only dk thickness.

februar 24, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterjammy_mumm

If you mean in different patterns, no we use the same weight on different needles depending on the result we like to achieve :)
