Bee Vest
The bee stitch looks a lot like the moss stitch, it´s just even prettier. And so we had to make another vest. We´re guessing it´s the last one in a while... The size on the photo is M.
Sizes
M
Buy S, L and XL here
Across chest:
S=16 M=18 L=20.5 XL=23 inches
The meeasurements may seem small, but the knit is very stretchy, an the vest looks best open.
Needles
Circular needles US 10 and crochet hook US 7.
Yarn
Abuelita Merino Worsted
2 skeins
(We made the vest in the photo with 2 skeins, but it was just about enough yarn. You might want to consider 3 skeins.) 3 skeins for L and XL.
Gauge
12 stitches = 4 "
Cast on 97stitches on circular needle US 10.
Always knit the firste and the last four stitches, they will make the front bands. And always slip the first stitch on each row.
Start knitting the rib, K1, P1 between the frontbands.
AT THE SAME TIME you will start making button wholes after 0.7". You´ll make these by knitting stitch 2 and 3 together and then a yarn over. Repeat this every 2" until you have 6 button wholes.
When the piece is 1.5" knit one row while increasing 12 stitches evenly. Do this from the inside of the vest. Do not increase where the frontbands are.
You will now have 109 stitches.
Repeat these 4 rows:
Row 1: Slip 1, K3 *K1, K1 into the stitch on the row below* repeat from * to * until 4 stitches remain. K4.
Row 2: Slip 1, knit the rest of the stitches
Row 3: Slip 1, K3 *K1 into the stitch on the row below, K1* repeat from * to * until 4 stitches remain. K4.
Row 4: Slip 1, knit the rest of the stitches
Repeat until the piece is 11".
Cast off for arm wholes like so:
K 24, cast off 4, K 53, cast off 4, K 24.
Start knitting the frontpiece where your yarn is. Knit 1.5" and then start decreasing for neck. You will decrease by knitting the 5th and 6th stitch from the end together.
Increase like this, starting from the arm whole:
Knit until 6 stitches remanin, K2tog, K4.
K 3 rows.
Repeat 4 times
Increase like this, starting from the arm whole:
Knit until 6 stitches remanin, K2tog, K4.
K 5 rows.
Repeat 3 times
Knit until the piece is 18". Cast off, but leave the 4 front band stitches on a thread.
Knit the back piece until it is 18". Cast off.
Knit the other front piece. You will here increase in the same way, but you will start knitting from the front band instead (Slip 1, K3, K2tog).
Cast off, but keep the 4 front band stitches on the needle. Assemble the shoulders.
Cast on a stitch towards the neck= 5 stitches for each front band. Knit back and fort until the front bands meet inthe back. Use the kitchener metoden to assemble the pieces. Assemble the rest of the vest. Single crochet around the armwholes if you want to.
