A new version of the childhood remake sweater. This time with a hood. The pattern is also improved from the last version and the arms are shaped to fit the body better. We´ve knitted long arms to make it last long.
Pattern
With two strands of yarn cast on 112 s on US 7 circlar needles. Knit garter in the round for 2 “. Continue in stockinette and knit another two rounds in the same colour before you start the stripes. (We made stripes of five rounds.) Knit stripes until your piece measures 11 “. Now divide into front and back pieces.
For this pattern we´ve made our increase stitches with provisional cast on. The reason for that is that we want to use the kitchener stitch to assemble the arms later, to make them seamless. If you are an advanced knitter and want to use this method, you need to crochet four chains now, each long enough to pick up 40 (45) 55 (64) new stitches in.
If you are a new knitter, just make new stitches on the needles.
Front piece 1
Start from the right side. Knit back and forth from now on out.
Row 1: K 36 s.
Row 2: Slip one, K until end of row. Make 5 new stitches
Row 3 and all odd number rows: Slip one, K until end of row.
Row 4: Slip one, K until end of row. Make 5 new stitches
Row 6: Slip one, K until end of row. Make 5 new stitches
Row 8: Slip one, K until end of row. Make 5 new stitches
Row 10: Slip one, K until end of row. Make 10 new stitches
Row 12: Slip one, K until end of row. Make 10 new stitches
Row 14: Slip one, K until end of row. Make 5 new stitches
= 40 (45) 55 (64) new stitches for the arm.
Continue knitting until the garter part measures 4 “ measured at the tallest part. End with a row from the wrong side. Leave the stitches on the needle or a piece of yarn.
Front piece 2
Knit like the first front piece, except from the first row.
Row 1: Cast on 16 s on your needle. K 20 s, make 5 new stitches.
Back piece
Start from the right side.
Row 1: K 56 s, make 5 new stitches.
Row 2: K, make 5 new stitches.
Øk like mange masker på hver side av bakstykket som du gjorde på forstykkene.Continue knitting while increasing in the same manner as for the front parts. Increase the same number of stitches on each side as described for the front. Knit until the garter part measures 4 “ measured at the tallest part. End with a row from the right side.
Now for the assembelling. Use the kitchener stitch (or simply bind off) 60 s on each arm, starting at the cuff. Leave 21 s on each front piece and 26 s on the back piece.
Hood
Start from the right side and K 21 s. Cut the yarn. Slip the next 26 s (from the back piece), on to your needle without knitting them (To line up the garter ridges right.) Then K 21 s from the next front piece. Continue in garter until the hood measures 8 “. Bind off, or on the next right side row K 34 s and assemble with kitchener stitch.
Place all your live stitches on needles, one arm at the time. Make sure you have the same number of stitches on both sides. Assemble with kitchener stitch. If you made stitches by making loops, assemble by sewing the underarm seams. Sew inn all loose ends and sew the front band to the sweater at the neck opening.

Is the back piece supposed to read Row 1: knit 56 st, make 45 new stitches instead of 5??? and then Row 2: knit, make 45 new stitches??? wondering if the make "5" new stitches is a typo?? .... thanks in advance :)
