Chunky Zig-Zag Spread

When marrying into a family that´s constantly freezing, you need to put in an extra effort when running a yarn shop. As my Sister in Law just turned 30, she got this to cuddle up with this Winter;)
Yarn

3 balls Pickles Fat & Happy(1500 g)

Needles
Long circular needles US 35 (20 mm)

Gauge
4" = about 5 stitches

Measurements
About 35x65". Rinse it and stretch it to make it larger.

Cast on 49 stitches loosely on US 35 needles.

Row 1:
Slip 1, K4* YO, K 3, slip the next two stitches as if you were to KNIT them (insert the needle into the second stitch on the left needle, and pick up the two front stitches on to the right needle), K1, lift the two slipped stitches over the last knitted stitch, K 3, YO, K1* Repeat from * to * until 4 s remains, K4

Row 2:
Slip 1. K 8. * P1, K 9* Repeat from * to * until 10 stitches remain. P1, K9.

Repeat these two rows. Change colour whenever you want to. Cast off when the work is about 47", or as long as you want it.

This is gorgeous! I guess I'm confused as to why it says Long circular needles US 35 (20 mm) but then Cast on 49 stitches loosely on US 10 needles.

Could you explain?

I'm wondering about that too - should we just cast on to the US 35 needles and forget the US 10??
