Cute Cloth and Rad Rag
Two dishcloths that are a little bit challenging, and fun to knit!
Yarn (enough for both)
150 g Pickles Organic Cotton, BABY, in three different colours
Needles
US 10 circular needles, any lenght.
CUTE CLOTH
This is two colour brioche, which makes a really nice effect.
YO = wind the working yarn around right needle
Brk = knit the YO and it´s stitch together
Brp = purl the YO and it´s stitch together
MC = Main colour
CC = Contrast colour
When slipping a stitch, do it as if you where to purl.
Pattern
With two strands of yarn cast on 28 s with MC on US 10 needles. Don´t turn your work, but slide it to the other side of the needle. Knit one preparing row before you start the actual pattern:
Join the CC: WYIF *slip 1, YO. Purl 1* Repeat from * to * throughout the row. Turn.
Row 1: With MC, WYIF *slip 1, YO. Brp 1* Repeat from * to * throughout the row. Don´t turn.
Row 2: Slide your stitches to the other side of the needle. With CC *brk 1, WYIF slip one, YO*. Repeat from * to * throughout the row. Turn. The last YO will be loose, so make sure to hold it under the needle.
Row 3: With MC *brk 1, WYIF slip 1, YO*. Repeat from * to * throughout the row. Don´t turn.
Row 4: Slide your stitches to the other side of the needle. With CC *WYIF slip 1, YO. Brp 1* Repeat from * to * throughout the row. Hold the last YO. Turn.
Repeat the four rows until your cloth is long enough. It seems to be longer than it is, so don´t bind off too soon ;)
Finishing row: Bind of after a row 2 like this: *brk 1, k 1. Pull the first knitted stitch over the second and off the needles (regular bind off). Continue until all stitches are bound off. Weave in all ends.
RAD RAG
This cloth is knit in log cabin technique and youtube has loads of videos on this technique. We really recommend cheching them out before you have a go at the actual pattern. This technique is great for improvising, but if you rather want to follow a pattern, do like this:
With two strands of yarn cast on 20 s on US 10 needles. Knit 10 garter ridges. Bind off from the right side, but leave the last stitch on the needle. Join the new colour and pick up 11 new stitches. Knit 9 garter ridges. Bind off and join the third colour in the same manner and pick up 27 new stitches. Knit 16 garter ridges and bind off again before joining the first colour again. Pick up 27 stitches and knit 3 garted ridges before binding off. Weave in all ends.
