If you are short or would like a shorter cape, adjust the lenght by switching the number of increase rounds in increase part 1 and 2. (8 for the first and 12 for the second part)
Pickles Pure Thick Alpaca
Stockinette: 11 s
Ribbing: 12 s
Waist measured flat
The waist part is very stretchy and measured fully contracted.
Cast on 104 s on US 11 needles. Work in the round.
K3 s, then *P1, K1* work between * and * over 48 s, P1. Repeat everything for the other side.
The middle s of the 3 knit stitches in each side marks the sides of the cape. Increase 1 stitch on each side of these side stitches each increase round = 4 new stitches each increase round. All new stitches and the 3 side stitches are knit in stockinette, the rest in ribbing for the rest of the pattern.
Increase part 1
*Work in the manner described for 3 rounds, do 1 increase round.* Repeat these 4 rounds until you have increased 12 times. = 152 s.
Increase part 2
*Work in the manner described for 1 round, do 1 increase round.*
Repeat these 2 rounds until you have increased 8 more times. = 184 s.
On the next round bind off 1 s in each side (the side stitch) Continue working the round until you reach the first bind off stitch and turn. You now have 91 s on each front and back. Knit back and forth.
Front: Make holes for the belt like this: Work the stockinette parts and the ribbing part separately for about 1 inch. Start working each part from the wrong side and end with a right side row, og slutter med en pinne fra retta. Then join all the parts and continue as before. Work 3 rowsa. On the 4th row do like this:
Work 38 s. Bind off 15. Work 38 s. Knit each side separately until they measure 8" from whree you divided into front and back.
Continue in the same manner until the back is the same lenght as the front before joining the front and back again. You are now knitting back and forth over all the stitches. Place markers between the front and back pieces in each side. Decrease like this on each right side row: Knit until 3 s is left before the first marker, SSK. Knit 1 s past the marker, K2tog. Repeat the decrease for the other side. Continue until you have 3 knit stitches left on each side of each marker.
On the next right side row bind off and AT THE SAME TIME decrease on last time.
Assemble the shoulder seams, make sure to fold in as neatly as possible in the "corners" to avoid them popping out too much.
Pick up 70 s around the edge of the neck (only along the sides and back, do not pick up at the bottom edge) knit ribbing, k1, p1 for about 5"Bind off and sew the bottom edges.
Cast on 14 s on US 10 DPN´s or straight needles. Repeat the following row until the belt is long enough.
*K1, Slip 1 wyif.*
Bind off while knitting tha last row.
