Cast on 100 s with the contrast colour on US 6 circular needles. Work 4 rounds of stockinette. On the next round increase 1 s in every 2.nd s by knitting in both front and back loop of the stitch. Place a marker at the beginning of the round and after 78 s to mark the sides. You now have 72 s for the front and 78 s for the back. Continue in stockinette until the piece measures 13 “, but change to main colour about half ways.
You are now starting the back piece. Work like this:
Knit 33 s. *K2tog*. Repeat between * and * 6 times alltogether. Knit the rest of the round. You now have 72 s for the back piece as well. On the next round make cable:
Knit 13 s. Place 15 s on a double pointed needle in front of the work. Place 16 s on a cable needle in the back of the work. Knit 15 s. Knit the 16 s from the needle in the back. Knit the 15 s from the needle in the front. Knit the rest of the round.
Work 23 rounds of stockinette. Repeat the cable paragraph. Work 4 more rounds of stockinette before dividing into front and back.
Front and back pieces
Work each of the pieces in stockinette back and forth until the arm openings measures 6 “.
Use kitcheners stitch to assemble 22 s in from each of the shoulders. Pick up 2 s in between the back and front pieces and knit around the neck opening. Pick up 2 s on the other side also. Finish the round. Purl one round while binding off. Weave in all ends.
