Holding both yarns together cast on 172 s on US 6 circular needles and k 1 p 1 for 3" in the round. Then change to US 8 circular and continue in stockinette. Place a marker in each side. Knit until your piece measures 14.5". On the next round knit like this:

K until 1 s before first marker. M1, K2, M1. Repeat the increase for the other side. = 4 new stitches. Increase in the same manner every 1" until you have increased 8 rounds altogether. Then do an increase on every 2. round 3 times = 216 stitches. K one round.

On the next round knit like this: K until 2 s before first marker. M1, K1, M1, K2, M1, K1, M1. Repeat the increase for the other side. = 224 stitches. K one round.

On the next round knit like this: K until 3 s before first marker. M1, K1, M1, K1, M1, K2, M1, K1, M1, K1, M1. Repeat the increase for the other side. K one round. Repeat the last 2 rounds 2 more times = 260 stitches.

Finish the two sides separately: Decrease for neck opening on every 2. row like this: 2 stitches 3 times and 1 stitch 3 times. = 48 stitches left on each side. Continue until your piece measures 5.5" from under the arms. Leave the stitches on the needles to assemble with kitchener stitch

Back piece:
Knit stockinette until the piece measures 4". On the next row knit like this: K 51 stitches and place the next  28 s on a different needle or thread. Finish the two sides separately: Decrease for neck opening on every 2. row like this: 2 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 1 time = 48 stitches left on each side.

Continue until your piece measures 5.5" from under the arms. Assemble front to back pieces with kitchener stitch

Neck edging:
With US 6 needles K the 28 stitches in the back. Then pick up 43 stitches in between the back and front, before K the 16 stitches in the front. Pick up 43 on the other side as well. K1, P1 for 2". Cast off, a little on the tight side. (It might be a good idea to go down on needle size for the cast off.)

Arm edges:
Pick up 41 stitches around the arms and K1, P1 for 2". Cast off, very loosely. (It might be a good idea to go up a few needle sizes for the cast off.)

Already commented on Ravelry that I LOVE this pattern. Just wondering what size is displayed in the photos? Is that a medium?

Thanks. :)

Thank you! No, the one in the picture is a Small. We give different sizes away for free, but always knit the size small as that is the size we both use. It could be an M on the tight side though..

loved this pattern from the first time i saw it !!!
i'm about to get started on it: when you say "place one marker on each side"
what do you mean exactly ?

november 23, 2010 | Unregistered Commentersandra diaz

Sandra, we mean place a stitch marker at the beginning of the round and after half of the stitches to mark both the sides of the sweater:)

I Love the pattern! It is a very beautiful sweater!

I am at the part in the pattern where it says "K 57 s and place the next 16 s on a different needle or thread. Finish the two sides separately" and I was wondering if that means to finish knitting the 57 stitches and the 16 with different balls of yarn? Or what? Sorry, I was just a little confused and want to make sure!

Thanks for all of your lovely patterns!

ONE LAST QUESTION about
"Neck edging"
... Then pick up 43 stitches in between the back and front, before K the 16 stitches in the front. Pick up 43 on the other side as well. K1, P1 for 2".
WHERE DOES THE NUMBER 43 COME FROM ? IS THAT THE NUMBER OF STITCHES YOU HAD LEFT ? I'M KNITTING IT WITH SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT YARN - IF THAT'S THE CASE THEN I´LL GO WITH WHAT I HAVE, RIGHT ?
THANK YOU

Hi ! I love this pattern and would really love to knit one for myself. I am wondering about the amount of yarn though. You say that 100gr of the 3ply Merino is needed per color but only 25gr of the Silk Mohair per color (except more for the endings color)
Now the Merino is about 400m and the Mohair only 250m, so is there alot of leftover Merino? Would about 250m of each yarn be enough for this pattern?
This yarn is not available here in Iceland so I am wondering about the amount in order to be able to buy alternatives.
Thank you so much for your help.

Hi,

I am loving this pattern so far, but I got to the part where you have to seperate the stitches from the front and back. Do you mean just knit back and forth the front then address the back or do you do both at one time? This is my first big project so I don't want to mess anything up! Thanks so much for the amazing pattern, it's awesome so far.

mars 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterCheyenne

Hi, you knit one side at the time, back and forth ;)

mars 18, 2011 | Registered Commenterpickles

I'm getting to the part that says "Then do an increase on every 2. round 3 times "
Does this mean to do the same increase every 2 inches 3 times? That makes the most sense, but I just want to be sure.
Thank you so much!

januar 4, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSamantha

Not every 2 inches, samantha, but every 2. round. So you will increase over 6 rounds i total :)

Just wondering what your rules are for selling items made from your patterns as I've found some online that seem to be exactly the same...

januar 12, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterErin

We do allow it soetimes, if they are using our yarn, but they will have to ask us first;) We´ve got an email now froma an etsy-shop asking about the same;) Maybe it´s this shop.

januar 12, 2012 | Registered Commenterpickles

How often do you change pattern sizes?

mars 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSamantha

The gauge for the dressy sweater says: 16m = 4". What is 16m?

april 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLynne

Typo. Is means stitches
