This is the kind of garment that never goes wrong. It can be worn as a dress with some bling or over jeans as shown. We like both.
Knitted bottom up.
Cast on 264 s on 32” circular needles. Place markers at the beginning of the round and after 132 s to mark the sides. Work stockinette in the round for 1.2”. Purl 1 round to make the folding edge. Continue in stockinette and increase in the following manner every 1” until you have increased 18 times all together:
Increase round: K1s. M1L. Work until 1 s is left before the next marker, M1R. K2s, M1L. Work until 1 s is left before the first marker, M1R = 4 s increased on the round.
When your piece measures 18” divide into front and back.
Work stockinette back and forth over 168 s until the arm opening measures 9.5 ". Leave the stitches on a spare needle while knitting the back.
Place all the stitches on to the same circular needle, place the markers the same place they where before you divided and continue in the round. Decrease in the following manner every 3rd round:
Decrease round: K1s, K2tog. Work until 3 s is left before the next marker, SSK. K2s, K2tog. SSK.
After 19 decreases start decreasing every 2nd round. Decrease every 2nd round 24 times all together. You now have 164 s left.
Purl one round and bind off a little on the tight side.
Cast on 66 s on double pointed needles. Place a marker at the beginning of the round. This will be under the arm. Work stockinette in the round for 3 cm. Purl 1 round. Continue in stockinette and increase in the following manner every 0.4” until you have increased 20 times all together:
Increase round: K1s, M1L. Work until 1 s is left on the round, M1R.
When the arm measures 20 cm, bind off. Make another arm. Sew the arms to the arm openings. Fold and sew the bottom edge and the cuffs, make sure the seams are elastic (stitch in every stitch) Weave in all ends.
