Fun kit - dress, tunic and sweater with stripy pants
A colourful and fun kit with sweater, tunic or dress to match stripy pants. Perfect for kindergarten. The tops are knitted top-down.

Pickles Extra Fine Merino
Sweater: 100 (150) 200 (250) 300 g main colour (MC)
Tunic: 100 (100) 150 (200) 250 g main colour (MC)
Dress: 150 (200) 200 (250) 300 g main colour (MC)
For all: 50 g of 3 different pattern colours (PC)
Pants: 3 different colours 50 (100) 100 (100) 100 g
Deduct 1 ball of each colour for the pants if you knit one of the tops.

Sweater: 24” or 32” circular needles + DP needles US 3 and 5.
Tunic:24” or 32” circular needles US 3 and 5.
Dress: 16” and 32” circular needles + DP needles US 3 and 5.
Pants: 16” circular needles and DP needles 3 and 5

SWEATER
Yoke
Cast on 84 s on short circular needles US 3 in main colour (MC). Knit ribbing in the round, K2, P2 for about 1.6”.
The more hold you’ve got here, the better. Make sure the opening fits the kid’s head.
Knit 1 round and increase 60 s evenly = 144 s.
Purl 1 round.
Swap to US 5 needles.
COLOUR FIELD PATTERN
*Slip 1, K3 in pattern colour (PC).*
Repeat from * to* until end of round.
Repeat this round 3 times in total.
Knit 1 round and purl 1 round in MC.
K2 in PC *slip 1, K3 in PC*
Repeat from * to * until end of round, but end the round with K1 instead of K3.
Repeat this round 3 times in total.
Knit 1 round and purl 1 round in MC.
*Slip 1, K3 in pattern colour (PC).*
Repeat from * to* until end of round.
Increase on the next round:
* Slip 1, make 1 right in PC, K3, make 1 left n PC.
Repeat from * to* until end of round.
Sweater and dress: 216 s.

The body
Continue in stockinette in MC until the piece is about 6.7”.
Put the s for sleeves on some scrapyarn on the next round. The rounds starts in the middle back.
K 33, place 42 s on scrapyarn for sleeves, cast on 8 new stitches under the sleeve (make backward loops), K 66, place 42 s on some scrap yarn for sleeves, cast on 8 new , K 33 s
= 148 s for body
Continue in stockinette until the piece is 16.5”. Decrease 16 s evenly on the next round = 132 s.
Use US 3 needles and knit ribbing, K2, P2 for about 1,2”. Cast off.
Sleeves
Cast on 8 new s under each sleeve = 50 s. The round starts in the middle of the new s.
Continue in stockinette on US 5 and decrease 1 s on each side of the first and last s of the round
every 2” 6 times in total = 38 s.
When the sleeve is 12.5” knit another round and decrease 2 s evenly on the next round.
Swap to US 3 and knit ribbing, K2, P2 for about 1.2”. Cast off.
Knit another sleeve.
TUNIC
The yoke
Cast on 88 s in MC un US 3 needles and knit ribbing, K2, P2 for 1”.
Swap to US 5 and knit 1 round while increasing 36 s evenly = 124 s. Purl 1 round
Go to COLOUR FIELD PATTERN
N in the sweater pattern and knit this pattern until you reach The body. Then come back here.
The body
Cast off for sleeve holes on the next round. The beginning of the round is in the middle back.
K 30, cast off 33 for sleeves, K 60, cast off 33 for sleeves, K 30.
Continue in stockinette and cast on 8 s under each sleeve = 136 s.
*Knit 3.2”.
Increase 14 s evenly on the next round. Purl 1 round*
Repeat from * to* for 3 rounds in total = 178 s.
K 3.2” in stockinette.
Decrease 14 s evenly on the next round = 164 s.
Use US 3 needles nad knit ribbing, K2, P2 for about 1.2”. Cast off.
DRESS
The yoke
Go to the Sweater pattern and knit it from the top until you reach The body. Then come back here.
The body
Continue in stockinette in MC until the piece is about 6.7”.
Place s for sleeves on the next round.
The beginning of the round is in the middle back.
K 31 s, place 46 s on scrap yarn for sleeves, make 8 news by making backward loops, K 62, place 46 s on scrap yarn for sleeves, make 8 new s, K 31 = 140 s for the body.
*Continue in stockinette for about 3.6”.
Increase 11 s evenly on the next round.
Purl 1 round*
Repeat from * to * 4 times in total = 184 s.
Knit 3.6” in stockinette.
Decrease 16 s evenly on the next round= 168 s.
Knit ribbing on US 3 needles, K2, P2 for about 2”. Cast off.
Sleeves
Cast on 8 s under each sleeve= 54 s.
Continue in stockinette in the round on US 5 until the sleeve measures 8".
Knit 1 round in stockinette and decrease 10 s evenly on the next round = 44 s.
Swap to US 3 needles and knit ribbing, K2, P2 for about 1.2”.
Cast off.
Knit another sleeve. Sew under the sleeves from the wrong side.
PANTS
Cast on 120 s on US 3 needles and knit ribbing like this:
K1 *P2, K2*
Repeat from * to* until 3 s remain. P2, K1.
After about 0.8” knit a round of holes:
K1, YO, P2tog,*K2, YO, P2tog*
Repeat from * to * until 1 s remains, K1.
Continue in rib-pattern.
When the piece is about 1.6” swap to US 5 needles. Place a marker to mark the middle of the front and back, as well as the sides = 4 markers with 30 s between them.
Make the pants taller in the back by knitting and turning while continuing in rib-pattern (if you’re unfamiliar with this, look it up on youtube):
*Knit rib 9 s past the marker in the back, turn, knit rib 9 s past the marker in the back on the wrong side, turn.*
Repeat from* to * 3 times in total, but add 9 s on each side of the marker for every repetition ( meaning next time you will knit 27 s before you turn).
Continue in the round in rib-pattern. Change colour about every 1.6”.
Tip: Knit 1 round in stockinette in the new colour before continuing in rib-pattern to make the colour changes look nicer.
Continue until the pants are 10”.
Make more room in the crouch.
*On the next round increase 1 s on each side of the 2 s in the middle front and back. All new s should be knitted in stockinette until they are casted off.
Knit 1 round in rib-pattern*
Repeat rom *to* 3 times in total = 132 s. Cast off the 6 s in the middle front and back = 120 s.
Knit each leg seperately = 60 s per leg.
Continue in rib-pattern in the round until the pants are 27.5” measured in the front.
Change to US 3 needles and K2tog on all the knit stitches on the next round, leaving you with a new pattern of K1, P2.
The rest of the pants are for folding up.
Continue in the new rib-pattern for another 3.2” before casting off loosely.
Assemble the crouch.
Make an i-cord by knitting 4 s. Pull the s to the
opposite end of the needle with yarn in back.
Repeat this until the cord is long enough.
