Sweater
The body

Knitted bottom-up in double strands.
Cast on 128 s in main colour (MC) on circular needles US 4.

Knit rib pattern in the round , K1 in the back loop, P1 for about 1.6”.
Continue in stockinette on US 6. Increase 12 s evenly on the first round = 140 s

Place markers (PM) at the beginning of the round and after 70 s to mark the sides of the sweater.

Knit until the piece is 12.2”.
Cast off 4 s in each side (2 s on each side of the markers in the sides)
= 8 s decreased
= 132 s
Put the work aside

Sleeves
Cast on 32 s LOOSELY on DP needles US 4.
Knit rib pattern in the round , K1 in the back loop, P1 for about 1.6”.
Continue in stockinette on US 6. Increase 6  s evenly on the first round = 38 s.

On the next round increase 1 s on each side of the first and the last s on the round.
Increase every 1.6” 6 times in total = 50 s.
Cast off the 2 last and 2 first s n the round when the piece is 12.2”
= 46 s

Yoke
Place all s onto the same circular needles, with cast off edges on the body piece and sleeves facing eachother. We started the round on the beginning ov the child´s left arm/shoulder.
PM at the beginning and end of each sleeve = 4 markers.
= 224 s

On the next round decrease like this:
K2tog * Knit until you are 2 s away from the marker, SSK, K2tog*
Repeat from * to * until 2 s remain, SSK.
= 216 s

Knit 1.2” in main colour before starting the garland-pattern.

If you haven´t knitted with two colours before, make sure to give enough yarn when knitting. We usually stretch the stitches on the right needles a bit every time we change colours.
This pattern requires that you K2tog two times in a row, and it will maybe create an uneven surface while knitting. This was evened out by damping the sweater once we finished.

After knitting the pattern (=72 s), knit 1 round in MC before swapping to US 6 and rib-pattern, K1 in the back loop, P1 for about 1.6”. Cast off loosely enough to fit the head.

Assemble under the sleeves.

Pants
Cast on 112 s on circular needles US 4. Knit rib-pattern in the round like this:
K1 * P2, K2*
Repeat from * to * until 3 s remain, P2, K1.

Knit a round for the cord after 0.8”:
K1, YO, P2tog
*K2, YO, P2tog*
Repeat from * to * until 1 s remains, K1.

Continue in the same rib-pattern as before. When the piece is 1.6” swap to US 6 needles.

PM in the front and back, as well as in the sides, 28 s between each marker.
Make the pants a bit taller in the back by knitting and turning like this (still in rib):

* Knit rib-pattern 9 s past the marker in the back, turn*
(if you´re unfamiliar with turning, try looking up a video on Youtube.com to avoid holes.)
K rib-pattern 9 s past the marker in the back, turn*
Repeat 3 times in total, BUT add 6 (7) 8 (9) 9 more stitches (i.e. 27 s before turning next time).

Continue in rib-pattern. Change colour, (We changed colours about every 1.6”).
Tip: We knit the first round of the new colour to make the transitions between the colours nicer (no rib)
Continue until the pants are 9.8”.
Make extra room in the crouch.
* Increase 1 s on each side of the 2 stitches in the front and in the back. All new stitches should be knitted in stockinette. Knit 1 round in rib-pattern*

Repeat from * to * 3 times in total
= 124 s.

Cast off 6 stitches in the front and back (3 s on each side of the marker = 12 s in total)
= 112 s.

Knit each leg separately on DP needles
= 56 s per leg

Continue in the same rib pattern until the pants are 24.4” in the front.
Change to needles US 4 and K2tog on all knit-stitches. (This will leave you with a new rib-pattern og K1, P2.) This is the fold up-edge.

Knit the new rib-pattern for 3.1” before casting off.

Make an i-cord by knitting 4 s, pull alls to theopposite side of the needle, pull the yarn in the back, and knit 4 stitches. Repeat until you have the desired length.
