A cute and practical everyday dress. The dress is knitted in soft yarn wich comes in a fantastic palette of duotones, which really stands out with the ridge teqnique.
Cast on 120 on circular needles US 4 and work ribbing in the round, K2, P2 for 2”. Change to US 6 needles and knit one round while evenly increasing 16 s. = 136 s. Place marker at the beginning of the round and after 68 s to mark the sides. Repeat the following 3 rounds until your piece measures about 19” (and you have completed a round 3):
Round 1: Purl
Round 2 and 3: Knit
Divide and knit front and back pieces separately.
Front
Start from the right side and work back and forth like this:
Row 1 (RS): Purl
Row 2 (WS): Purl
Row 3 (RS): Knit
Row 4 (WS) Knit
Row 5 (RS): Knit
Row 6 (WS): Purl
Repeat these rows until your piece measures about 24”.
Bind off for neck opening while continuing in the same manner:
Work 26 s, bind off 16 s, work 26 s. Work each side separately from now on. Bind off 1 s towards the neck every 2. row 5 times. Finish with a garter ridge from the right side. Leave the s on a spare needle while knitting the back.
Back
Start from the right side and work like the front until the piece measures 25”. Bind off for neck like this:
Work 22 s, bind off 24 s, work 22 s. Work each side separately from now on. Bind off 1 s towards the neck every 2. row 1 time. Finish with a garter ridge from the right side. Assemble with kitcheners stitch.
Change to US 4 needles. Pick up 72 s around the neck opening and purl one round. Continue in ribbing, K2, P2 for 3 cm. Bind off.
Use US 6 needles and pick up 56 s around the arm opening. Work in the round in the following manner until the arm measures 10.5” (and you have completed a round 3):
Round 1: Purl
Round 2 and 3: Knit
Purl one round. Change to US 4 needles and knit one round while evenly decreasing 12 s on the round.
Work ribbing, K2, P2 for 1.5”. Bind off.
