Pattern
Cast on 160 s on 32” US 9 needles. Knit ribbing in the round, K2, P2 for about 2.5 inches. Switch to US 10 needles and knit 1 round. Increase 20 evenly around this round. (= 180 s) Place marker at the beginning of the round and after 90 s to mark the sides of the sweater. Then repeat the following rounds until the piece measures 12.5 inches. (end with a round 3):

Round 1: Purl

Round 2 and 3: Knit

Divide into front and back and knit back and forth from here.

Front
Start from the right side and knit like this:

Row 1 (from the right side): Purl

Row 2 (from the wrong side): Purl

Row 3 (from the right side): Knit
Row 4 (from the wrong side) Knit
Row 5 (from the right side): Knit

Row 6 (from the wrong side): Purl

Repeat these round until the piece measures about 21 inches.  Bind off for the neck while continuing in the same manner as over (purl and knit rows).

Work 36 stitches, bind off 18 stitches, work 36 stitches. Then knit each side separately. Bind off 1 stitch towards the neck every 2.nd row 6 times. End with a ridge on the right side. Leave the rest of the stitches on spare needles or a thread while knitting the back.

Back
Start from the right side and work in the same manner as for the right side until the piece measures 23.2 inches.  Bind off for the neck:

Work 31 stitches, bind off 28 stitches, work 31 stitches. Finish each side separately. Bind off 1 stitch towards the neck every 2.nd row 1 time. End with a ridge on the right side. Assemble with kitcheners stitch.

Neck
Change to US 9 short needles. Pick up 80 stitches around the neck opening and purl one round. Continue in ribbing, k2, p2 for about 1.5 inches. Bind off.

Arms
Pick up 72 stitches around the arm opening with US 10 short needles. Work in the round in the following manner until the arm measures 11 inches (end with a round 3):

Round 1: Purl

Round 2 and 3: Knit

Purl 1 round. Change to US 9 needles and knit one round while at the same time decreasing 12 stitches evenly around. (decrease by knitting 2 s together.)

Knit ribbing, K2, P2 for about 1.5 inch. Bind off. Repeat for the other arm.

Hi! The sweater looks great! How tall and skinny is the model wearing the Small? I can't decide what size I am.... I'm 168cm, 55kg.

Hi Pickles, I love this pattern (as I do all of them) and am excited to start this in your Cornflour blue wool. I was wondering why you suggest separating into front and back pieces (and knitting back and forth) instead of knitting the body in the round - and modifying even-numbered rounds accordingly - at least for the first 21"? I'd find it much faster to do it in the round but perhaps don't fully understand the pattern. Thanks for any advice. Again, you guys are fabulous. Amy xx

Hi - I have a question on this pattern:

"Cast on 160 s on 32” US 9 needles. Knit ribbing in the round, K2, P2 for about 2.5 inches. Switch to US 10 needles and knit 1 round."

When I switch to the size 10 needles, am I actually knitting the first round or am I purling the first round as in "Round 1 - Purl"?

thx!

Hi, knit the initial round, then start the numbered rounds :)

What is the name of the color for the yellow sweater.

What is the color name for the winter version of the good morning sweater? There are three different yellows in the albuelita merino worsted.

The yellow is Lemon Candy :)
