Cast on 89 s with Pickles Summer Wool on US 2.5 circular needle. Work ribbing, K1, P1 back and forth for 1.5”. Change to stockinette on a right side row and increase 14 s on the first row of stockinette. You now have 103 s.
Place markers (MM) after 23 s, and 56 s after the first MM. Work 5 rows of stockinette before starting stitch pattern row 1.
How to make the dots: Change to Pickles Angora. Knit 5 s in the next s by alternating between knitting in the front and the back loop. Turn the work and work 3 rows of stockinette over these 5 s. Turn (you are now on the right side) Slip the first 4 angora s. Knit 1 s. One by one, lift the 4 slipped s over the s knitted and off the needle. Tighten a little. Change back to Pickles Summer Wool.
Alternate between 3 dot colours. Start with colour 1, then colour 2 and 3, before starting colour 1 again. Choose whatever colours you like for the different numbers :)
Row 1: K3s. *Make dot. K7s* Repeat between * and * until 4 s is left on the needle. Make dot. K3s.
Row 2-8: Work stockinette.
Row 9: K7s. *Make dot. K7s*. Repeat between *and *.
Row 10-16: Work stockinette.
Repeat these rows until you have worked about 9 (9) 10.5 (11.5) 12.5 (14)” and have 8 (8) 9 (10) 11 (12) rows of dots. End after a dot row. Bind off 8 s under each arm (4 s on each side of the MMs) Put aside and make arms.
Cast on 32 s on double pointed needles with Pickles Summer Wool. Work ribbing in the round, K1, P1 for 1.5”. Change to stockinette on a right side row and increase 16 s on the first stockinette row. You now have 48 s. Work 5 rounds of stockinette before starting stitch pattern round 1 or 9 (see note).
NB: To end up with the same colour on the dots after connecting the pieces it is important to start with the right angora colour, and either a round 1 or 9. You need to start with colour 1 on a round 1.
Round 1: K3s. *Make dot. K7s*. Repeat between * and * until 5 s is left on the round. Make dot. Knit 4 s.
Round 2-8: Knit.
Round 9: *K7s. Make dot*. Repeat between * and *.
Round 10-16: Knit.
When the arm measures about 9” and you have 8 rows of dots end after a dot row. Bind off 8 s on the next round like this:
Knit 3 s. Bind off 8 s. Put aside and make another arm.
Read through the whole decrease part before starting. Line up all the parts on to the circular needle. You now have 167 s. Place markers (MM) between all the parts. (4 markers). Start from the wrong side and work 6 rows of stockinette before starting row 1 again from the right side. AT THE SAME TIME decrease on all right side rows (including the dot rows).
NB: From now on place the dots with 7 s in between them, just like before, but since you are decreasing the K2tog and SSK counts as 1 s on the dot rows.
Decrease rows: Knit or knit/make dots until 3 s is left before MM. SSK. K2s. K2tog. Repeat for all MMs. Purl back.
Repeat the decrease rows until you have decreased 12 times alltogether. You now have 71 s. Work ribbing, K1, P1 for 1.5”. Bind off.
Pick up s along each side, one side at the time. Pick up about 30 s per 4”. Work ribbing K1, P1. On one of the sides make button holes on a right side row 0.5” cm from the start of the row and about every inch like this: Work until a purl s where you want your hole. Yo, K2tog.
