Impress dress with hat and socks
We've knitted this dress time and time again. Now, we've added som more length, making you able to choose between a dress or a shorter tunic. The one above is knieed in a yarn that has been discontinued, The one below is knitted in Pickles Cashmerino Silk and Pickles Angora. The newborn size is tiny, and fits when the the baby is just that, newborn:)

Yarn
Pickles Cashmerino Silk or Pickles Extra Fine Merino
main colour, 100 (100) 150 (200) g
pattern colour, 50 g
Pickles Cashmerino Silk or Pickles Extra Fine Merino or Pickles Angora, woven stitch colour, all double stranded, 50 g
(Estimate for dress, but you will have enough yarn left to make socks and hat too)
For the longer dress, add one ball i main colour
Needles
16” and 24” or 32” circular and DP needles US 5
Gauge
21 stitches/26 rows in stockinette = 4”
Measurements, lying flat:
About 6.3 (7.9) 9 (11)”
Length, short dress: 9.5 (11) 14 (15.5)”
Length, long dress: 12 (15) 17.5 (20.5)”
Cast on 164 stitches in main colour and US needles 5. K 6 rounds. Knit garter stitch in the round for 6 rounds.
Place stitch markers (SM) along the next round like this:
K 30 stitches, SM. K 22 stitches, SM. K 60 stitches, SM. K 22 stitches, SM, K 30.
Start knitting in stockinette, and knit 2 rounds.
Knit one decrease round on the next round:
Knit until 2 stitches remain before the first SM, SSK. Knit until the next SM, K2tog. Repeat on the other side.
Decrease like this every
short dress: 0.6”
long dress: 0.8”
17 times in total = 96 stitches.
Knit until the piece is
short dress: 11.4”.
long dress: 14.5”.
Cast off for arm holes like this:
K 7 stitches past the first SM, cast off 8 stitches. Repeat on the other side.
K 13 stitches past the last SM. You are now in the middle back, and will start knitting back and forth. Use the pattern colour. Knit 1 row, but when your reach the arm holes, cast on 32 stitches on both sides, (make backward loops). When you reach the end of the round, turn and knit one row.
1st row of woven stitch
Use the woven stitch colour, double stranded.
*K1, slip 1 with yarn in back*.
Repeat from * to * until end of row.
*Slip 1 with yarn in front, K1*.
Repeat from * to * until end of row.

Knit 2 rows in pattern colour, AND decrease 8 stitches evenly on the second row.
2nd row of woven stitch
Use the woven stitch colour, double stranded.
*Slip 1 with yarn in back, K1*.
Repeat from * to * until end of row.
*K1, slip 1 with yarn in front*.
Repeat from * to * until end of row.

Knit 2 rows in pattern colour, AND decrease 8 stitches evenly on the second row.
Repeat 1st row of woven stitch.
Knit 2 rows in pattern colour, AND decrease 12 stitches evenly on the second row.
Repeat 2nd row of woven stitch.
Knit 2 rows in pattern colour, AND decrease 12 stitches evenly on the second row.
Repeat 1st row of woven stitch.
Knit 2 rows in pattern colour, AND decrease 16 stitches evenly on the second row.
Repeat 2nd row of woven stitch.
Knit 2 rows in pattern colour, AND decrease 16 stitches evenly on the second row.
Cast off. Save enough yarn to make a small
crochet loop to put around the button.
Wash gently by hand and dry flat.
