Pickels Silk Sorbet is great for this project; it is shiny, soft and silky, and it falls just great.
We´ve also made socks and hat for the two smallest sizes. The picture show the newborn size, and the length of the dress is made pretty short to be more practical. The larger sizes have more length.

In this project we´ve used different types of yarn, and we love the lacy yarn effect. This pattern fits a size 80 - 86. Dress it up for a party or down for a summer day, either way it looks impressive.

Gauge: Stockinette with Svale is 21 stitches pr 4 inch.

Materials:

Svale, 3 balls. Scraps of Lacy Løvegarn from HP yarn in pink, peach and grey. Surya from Bouton d´Or as base colour in the woven stitch, we used less than half a ball.

If you want to use scrap yarn for this project we recommend a fingering weight yarn as base (suitable for a US size 2 needle) and a little thicker yarn (US size 6 - 7) for the woving.

Pattern:

With Svale cast on 164 stitches on a US size 2 or 3 needle. Knit the garter stitch for 6 rows. Then switch to needle size 4 and start knitting stockinette in the round. Place marker (PM) like this:

Knit 30 stitches, PM. Knit 22, PM. Knit 60, PM. Knit 22, PM.

Knit until your piece measures just over 1 inch. Knit a decrease round: Knit until 2 stitches before your first marker. Ssk. Knit until next marker, K2tog. Repeat for the other side.

Do a decrease round every 0,4 inch, 17 times all together. There are 96 stitches left on the needle. Knit until your piece measures 12 inches. Cast of under each arm like this: Knit until the first marker. Knit 6 more stitches, then cast off 8 stitches. Repeat for the other side. Remember to tighten the first cast off stitch for a neat result.

Knit until 14 stitches past the last marker. You are now in the middle of the back. Switch to Surya Bouton d´Or. Continue in stockinette. When you get to the arm opening, cast on 24 new stitches over it and continue the round. Knit until the other arm opening and repeat. When you get to the end of the round turn and knit 1 garter row. (Knit back and forth from now on)

Switch back to surya and knit one row, while decreasing 8 stitches evenly distributed across row.
Knit 1 row.

Repeat "1. row with lace yarn". Then switch back to surya and knit one row, while decreasing 12 stitches evenly distributed across row.
Knit 1 row.

Repeat "2. row with lace yarn". Then switch back to surya and knit one row, while decreasing 12 stitches evenly distributed across row.
Knit 1 row.

Repeat "1. row with lace yarn". Then switch back to surya and knit one row, while decreasing 16 stitches evenly distributed across row.
Knit 1 row.
