Pattern
Round 1: Chain 34 (chain X number of stitches to go around the top of your lamp minus 4 stitches.) Join with a slip stitch in the first stitch to make a ring.
Round 2: Chain 1. Single crochet in each stitch. Slip stitch in the chain stitch.
Round 3: Chain 1. Single crochet in each stitch. Increase 4 stitches by single crocheting two times into the same stitch four places evenly distributed. Slip stitch in the chain stitch.
Round 4: Chain 3. Double crochet in the back loop of each stitch to make a folding edge. Slip stitch in the third chain stitch.
Round 5: Chain 3. Increase one stitch at the beginning of the round by making a double crochet into the same stitch as the chain comes from. (picture below)
Double crochet in each stitch around the ring as usual. Increase one stitch at the end of the round by making a double crochet into the same stitch as the chain comes from. (picture below)

Repeat round 5 until your shade until your work is long enough to cover the shade. Then fold in by crocheting like this:
Folding round: Chain 1. Single crochet in the back loop of each stitch. Slip stitch in the chain stitch.
Finishing round: Chain 1. Single crochet in each stitch. At the same time decrease 4 stitches evenly around the ring by picking up the loop in two stitches before pulling the yarn through. (Picture below)
