Lavender jacket - in blue

The Lavender jacket has been a popular pattern, and we´ve knitted it up in several differnt yarns until we found the perfect match: Abuelita Merino Worsted. This yarn is super light, and the jacket gets great hold, as well as being is feather-light. We´ve combined it with Pickles Silk Mohair to create more life and fluff.
The brioche stitch falls very nice, and is very stretchy. That is why we´ve only made two sizes.

Sizes
S-M (L-XL)
L-XL for free. S/M can be bought here.

Needles
32" circular needles 7 mm

Yarn
500 (600) g Abuelita Merino Worsted
5 (6) balls of Pickles Silk Mohair

Gauge (As brioche is so stretchy it is hard to give an exact gauge)
4" = 10-11 stitches

Measurements
Width measured flat: 20.8 (22.5)”
Length : 24.8 (26.7)”.

The cardigan is knitted bottom-up with two strands; one worsted and on silk mohair.

Cast on 111 stitches on 7 mm needles. Knit 3 rows.
Repeat these two rows:

Row 1:
Slip 1, K 3 (front bands), Knit broiche like this:
*K 1, K 1 in the row below* Repeat from * to * until 4 stritches remain. K 4.

Row 2:
Slip 1, K 3, Knit broiche like this:
*K 1 in the row below, K 1* Repeat from * to * until 4 stritches remain. K 4.

You can also knit the brioche stitch like this, but we prefer the other technique as it is easier on sore shoulders.

Continue until the jacket is 17.7" (Knit longer if you´re very tall, or want a longer jacket)

Start knitting the first front piece. Knit the 4 front bands stitches.
Knit brioche stitches over the next 23 stitches (27 stitche in total). The last stitch towards the sleeve opening can be knitted as a normal knit-stitch each time. When you turn, slip the first stitch.
Continue until the piece is 26.7". Cast off, but leave the 4 front band stitches on a thread.

Knit the back piece in brioche stitches, 57 stitches. Cast off when the piece is 26.7".

Knit the other front piece like the first one.

Assemble the shoulders.

Sleeves
Pick up 43 stitches around the arm hole. Knit brioche stitch back and forth (assemble afterwards).
Decrease by knitting the first two and the last two stitches together every 2" 7 times in total.
Knit until the sleeve is 14.5".
Knit 3 rows. Cast off.

Front bands

Increase one stitch towards the neck line. You will have 5 stitches. Knit back and forth in garter stitch until the front band reaches the middle of the neck in the back. Finish after a row from the wrong side. Make sure you don´t knit too much, it is nicer to stretch the front band a bit.

Leave the stitches on the needles.
Knit the other front band in the same way.
Sew the stitches together like this.
Assemble the front bands and sleeves.

I really like this jacket, and it is my first attempt at brioche.
But to me the instructions: *K 1, K 1 in the row below* and for the second row: *K 1 in the row below, K 1*, does just not make it look like in the pictures! Am I doing something wrong or has anyone else had problems with this? Should there not be a slipped stitch or a purl row to maintain the knitted lines, my attempt just looks like a fluffy kind of garter stitch.
I followed the instructions here http://briochestitch.com/brioche/ , then it looked like it does in the pictures.

Kan man få tips til hvilket mohairgarn og merino som passer sammen i farge? Jeg vil gjerne strikke en rosa lavendeljakke, men det er vanskelig å se for seg hvordan fargene blir i virkeligheten når man bare får sett dem på nett. Takk! :)
