Oh, another handsome sweater

Yet another Oh, handsome sweater. This time in more sizes and with a double collar. If you want a sweater for year-round use, knit it with a single collar.

Yarn

Double strands Pickles Baby Merino 200 (250) 300 (350) 400 (450) 500 g base colour/ 100 g pattern colour.
Abuelita 3-ply can also be used.

Needles

DP and circular needles US 7 and 9

Gauge for 4”

16 stitches

Measurements
Chest: 11.8 (12.6) 13.4 (14.1) 15 (16.1) 17.3”
Length: 13.4 (15) 15.7 (16.5) 17.7 (19.2) 20.4”
Body piece
Cast on 132 stitches on circular needles, US 7. Use double strands of the pattern colour. Knit in the round.
Knit the rib, K2, P2. Knit until the piece is 1,5”.
Switch to US 9. Knit 2 rounds. Knit the pattern.

Continue in the base colour until the piece is 12.2”.
On the next round you´ll cast off for sleeves and neck opening. Start the round 4 stitches before the round you´re on is completed.
Knit like this:
Cast off 4, K 22, cast off 18 for neck opening, K 22, cast off 4, K 62.
Turn and knit in stockinette until the back piece is 19.2”. Put the stitches on some spare needles.

Knit each of the front pieces in stockinette until they are 19.2”. Put the stitches of the first front piece on some spare needles.

Assemble the shoulders using the kitchener´s stitch. Leave the left over stitches in the back of the neck on the circular needles for later.

Sleeves

Cast on 32 stitches loosely on DP needles US 7. Use the pattern colour. Knit in the round. Knit a rib, K2, P2 until the piece is 1.5”.
Switch to US needles 9 and start knit two rounds. Increase 4 stitches evenly on the 1st round.

From here on you will increase one stitch on each side of two stitches right under the arm every 1.2” 12 times = 60 stitches. When the piece is 16.1”, cast off the 4 stitches right under the arm.
Knit 3 rows in stockinette back and forth. Cast off loosely. Knit the other sleeve in the same way. Assemble the sleeves and the body piece.
Collar
Pick up stitches along the neckline using the circular needle with the left over stitches. You should have 82 stitches in total. Do not pick up the  stitches at the lower bottom.
Use the base colour and knit back and forth over the next 3.9”.  Use the pattern colour and knit 4 rows. Then start knitting in stockinette. Knit 4.3 ” in total in stockinette. Cast off loosely. Fold the collar to make it double. Overlap the collar at the lower front and assemble. To hold thje collar in place, you can sew on a button and make a small loop on the side of the collar.
