Oh, handsome boyfriend sweater

The adult version of the popular Oh, handsome sweater. It is a slim fit, and can be knitted for women as well as men. It just turn out a baggy version. Just choose the size you normally do. The size on the picture is a S.

Needles
DP needles, small and large circular needles US 7 and 9

Gauge for 4"
16-17 stitches

Chest measurements
18 (19) 20.4 (22.8) 24.8"

Yarn
Double yarn Pickles Baby Merino or Abuelita 3-ply/Abuelita Baby Merino Lace 450 (550) 650 (750) 850 g base colour, 50 g pattern colour

Body piece
Cast on 156 stitches on the circular needles, US 7. Use double strands of the base colour. Knit in the round.
Start knitting the rib, k2, p2. Knit until the piece is 1,5". Switch to US 9. Knit 2 rounds.
Knit the pattern.

Continue in the base colour until the piece is 19".
On the next round you´ll cast off for sleeves and neck opening. Start the round 4 stitches before theround you´re on is completed.
Knit like this:
Cast off 8, K 27, cast off 16 for neck, K 27, cast off 8, K 70.
Turn and knit the back piece in stockinette until the whole piece is 26.7". Cast off loosely.

Knit each of the front pieces in stockinette until they are 26.7". Cast off loosely.

Assemble the shoulders.

Sleeves
Cast on 40 stitches loosely on DP needles US 7. Knit in the round. Knit a rib, k2, p2 until the piece is 1.5».
Switch to US needles 9 and start knitting in stockinette. Increase 5 stitches evenly on the 1st round. The last stitch should be at the end, right under the arm. This ONE stitch will be PURLED throughout the work.
From here on you will increase one stitch on each side of the purled stitch every 1.3" 10 times in total = 65 stitches. When the piece is 20.5" you will cast off 9 stitches, the 4 before and the 4 after the purled stitch as well as the purled stitch. Knit 4 rows in stockinette back and forth. Cast off loosely. Knit the other sleeve in the same way. assemble the sleeves and the body piece.

Collar
Pick up 80 stitches along the neckline. Do not pick up the  stitches at the lower bottom (where you casted off 16 stitches before) You will sew the collar to this space when it´s done.
Knit back and forth over the next 3.5 ". Switch to knitting oin stockinette. Knit two more rows in the base colour. Switch to the pattern colour. Knit 3.5" in total in stockinette. Cast off loosely. Fold the collar to make it double. Overlap the collar at the lower front and assemble.
