Sweater
The body
Cast on 92 s in double stranded Pickles Pure Wool on US 7. Knit bottom-up, in the round, double stranded.
Knit a rib, K2, P2 for about 1.6”.
Swap to US 9 and stockinette, and knit until the peice is 9.4”.
When 2 s remain on the last round, cast off like this:
Cast off 4 s for sleeve holes, K 15, cast off 12 for neck, K 15, cast off 4 s for sleeve holes, K 42.
Back piece
Turn and knit the back piece in stockinette, back and forth.
On the second row, K2tog at the beginning and the end of the row.
Knit until the piece is 15”.
Leave the s to weave the front and back together, or cast off the 13 s in each far end, leaving s in the back for collar.
Front pieces
Start knitting one of the front pieces back and forth in stockinette.
On the second row, K2tog at the beginning and the end of the row.
Continue until the piece is 15”.
Leave the s to weave the front and back together, or cast off.
Knit another front piece.
Use kitchener’s stitch to weave the shoulders together, or assemble from the wrong side.
Leave the remaining s in the neck.
Sleeve
Cast on 28 s on DP needles US 7. Knit a rib, K2, P2 for about 1.6”.
Swap to US 9 and stockinette and increase 4 s on the first round.
Increase 1 s after the first s and before the last s of the round every 1.2” 7 times in total = 46 s.
Knit until the piece is 9.8”. Stop 2 s before the round ends, and cast off 4 s = 42 s.
Knit back and forth from here.
On the second row, K2tog at the beginning and the end of the row. Knit 2 more rows before casting off.
Knit another sleeve.
Collar
Use circular needles US 7, and place the left over s in the neck onto it.
Pick up s with these needles along each side of the the neck opening so that you’ll get 76 s in total.
Knit a rib, K2, P2 until the piece is about 3.1”. Cast off LOOSELY to make sure it fits the kid’s head.
Place one of the collar flaps over the other and assemble towards the lower opening as neatly as you can.
Pants
Knitted top down in the round, double stranded.
Cast on 100 s in main colour on US 7. Knit a rib, K1, P1. On round 4, knit a round where you make holes for the cord:)
*K2tog, YO, K1, P1. Repeat from * to* until end of round.
Cointinue in the rib patterns until the piece is about 4.7".
Swap to US 9 and continue in stockinette.
After about 1.2” swap to pattern colour, and continue to knit in stripes of 1.2” until the piece is 6.3” .
Continue in the stripe pattern, and place markers after the first 2 s and before the 2 last s of the round to mark the middle back = 4 s in between the markers.
Increase on each side of these markers on every second round (the 4 s in between remain constant, increase on the outside. Make 1 right before the marker, and make 1 left after the marker).
Increase like this 10 times in total = 120 s. Cast off the 4 s in the middle back, and the 4 s 56 s after that in the middle front.
Legs
Knit each leg separately in stockinette, still in stripes. Swap to US 7 when the pants are about 16.5". Knit one last round in stockinette while deacreasing 10 s evenly. Knit a rib, K1, P1 for about 3.9”. Cast off, quite tightly. Knit another leg.
Make an i-cord like this:
Cast on 3 s with double strands on DP needle US 7.
*K3, slide all s from right to left on the needle, with yarn in back, knit from the same direction again*
Repeat from * to * until the i-cord is long enough.
Garments knitted in this yarn should be washed before they are worn, as they are softened quite a bit form this process.
