Oh, handsome-kit

A classic pattern, now with baggy pants. If you want stripy pants, you´ll have to decide how much pattern colour to buy yourself depending on the width of the pants. The pants do noe have extra room in the crotch, as they are pretty baggy. The sweater is pretty fitted, so make sure to check the width before knitting.

Pickles Baby Merino
Sweater: 250 (250) 300 (350) 400 (450) 500 g
Pants:: 200 (250) 300 (350) g

Needles
Circular and DP needles US 6 & 8
(small for pants, larger for sweater
depending on size)

Gauge per 4”
17 s

Width
Sweater: 9.9 (11) 12.2 (13) 13.8 (14.6) 15.4”

Sweater
The body

The whole kit is knitted with with double strands Pickles Baby Merino.
Cast on 92 s loosely on circular needles US 6.
Knit rib pattern in the round, K2, P2 for 1.6”.

Change to US 8 and knit in stockinette until the piece is 9.4”
Start casting off for arm holes when 2 s remains on the last round. Knit like this:
Cast off 4 s, K 15, cast off 12 s for neck opening, K 15, cast off 4 s, K 42.
Turn and start knitting the back piece in stockinette.
On the second row K2tog at the beginning and end.
Knit until the piece is 15”
Leave the s on the needle to assemble with kitchener´s stitch later on (Cast off if you prefer).
 
Start knitting one of the front pieces in stockinette. K2tog at the beginning and end of the second row. Leave the stitches on the needles when the piece is 15”.
Knit the other front piece.
Assemble the front and back pieces with kitcheners stitch. Leave the remaining stitche on a circular needle for the collar.

Sleeves
Cast on 28 s on DP needles US 6.
Knit rib pattern in the round, K2,P2 for 1.6”.
Change to US 8 and continue in stockinette. Increase 4 s on the first round.
Increase 1 s on each side of the first and last stitch of the round.
Continue to increase like this every 1.1”  7 times in total = 46 s
Knit until the piece is  9.8”.
Cast off the 2 last and 2 first s on the round on the next round the next round = 42 s.
Knit back and forth in stockinette.
K2tog at the beginning and end of the second row.
Cast off after 2 more rows.
Knit another sleeve.

Collar
Use the US 8 circular needles with the remaining s from the body piece. Pick up s along each vertical side of the neck opening. You should have 76 s in total.
Knit rib pattern in the round, K2,P2 for about 3.1” (you might want to make it smaller or bigger depending on the size of the neck opening)
Cast off loosely to make sure the sweater will fir over the head.
Put one of the collar-sides on top of the other and assemble to the lower neck opening.
Pants
Start from the top, and knit with double strands.
Cast on 100 s loosely on circular needles US 6.
Knit rib-pattern in the round, K1, P1.
Knit like this on the forth round:
*K2tog, YO,K1, P1*
Repeat from * to *.
Continue until the pants are 4.7.

Change tu US 8, and start knitting in stockinette.
Place marker on each side of the 4 s in the middle back
(the beginning of the round marks the middle) when the piece is 6.3”.
Increase 1 s on each side of each side of these 4 s on every second round 10 times in total = 120 s.
Cast off the 4 s in the middle back and front = 112 s, 56 s for each leg.

Start kntting the first leg in stockinette.
Swap to US needles 6 when the pants are 16.5” .
Knit one round and decrease 8s.
Knit rib-pattern in the round, K1, P1 for about 4”.
Make another leg.

Make a cord and assemble.
