Om shanti yoga mat bag

This bag is really just a never ending granny circle. It is a fast crochet, but with a lot of ends to weave in. We recommend you do it as you go.
Materials: 5 mm crochet needle and Heavy Cotton from Stoff og Stil
We like to start with an adjustable ring, but if you feel that is too complicated just chain five and make a ring.
Round 1: Chain 3 and make 15 dc in the ring.
Round 2: Chain 1 and dc in the same stitch. *ch2, skip next stitch, sc 1* You now have 8 spaces.
Runde 3: Chain 3. Dc twise in the first space. *Chain 2 and make 3 dc in the next space* Sl st tog.
Runde 4: Chain 3. Make 3 dc in the first space. *Chain 2 and make 4 dc in the next space* Sl st tog.
Repeat last round until your bag is the required lenght.

Finishing rounds:
Round 1: Sc in each stitch
Round 2: 1 sc in each of the 2 first stitches. *Chain 2, skip 2 stitches, 1 sc in each of the 2 next stitches*
Runde 3: Sc in each stitch. You have 12 holes.
Knit an icord long enough to go round the top and down on both sides. It´s done in no time with one of these.
Thread the cord, start from the outside so both ends hang out. Then thread them into the bag over the 4th round (in the bottom) and sew them to the first round. That way your bag will hang nicely and not stretch when used.

I think we have the same yoga mat. Is yours a pink/grey one from Nike? I want to get some grey yarn to make this bag, because I like everything being matchy matchy.
Its a Nike one yes. Grey sounds fab!
This is lovely! Thank you for sharing!
I was just thinking that I needed a new yoga mat bag...now I only need to learn to crochet!

this is great! I just got a new yoga mat that doesn't have any straps or anything! I'm going to try it.

Hello there!
I just loved this yoga mat. It is so very colorful! feels like going right now (to the yoga classes) :)
All your work is MORE THAN AWESOME and WONDERFUL!!! Hats off to you... :) I am so glad i found your site!! :)
First, I saw the site and was disappointed as it was not English, then I started seeing each n every bit, and found patterns in English!! :) Thank you for posting them in English too :)
Thank you for such lovely crochet patterns (I am just a beginner in crocheting. I loved your Knitting patterns, designs and all, but i think, i cannot handle knitting that properly.. :( ) You are just so excellent!!!! :)
Warm Regards,
Smitha.
I really like this pattern. It really stinks that lots of people on Etsy are using this pattern to make bags and sell as their own design.
This is GREAT!! I've started to take yoga classes, and I actually had this market-mesh tote that fits my mat perfectly, and since I'm in poor health right now (I've getting a liver transplant in late May of this year), I've been fundraising for medically-related costs that I will incur during surgery. I've decided to sell the 'market mesh bags' as yoga mat bags, and all proceeds will go to my fundraiser, but this bag looks WAY more easy to make, and is great cause, it too, is not a 'closed' bag, so the mat can breathe & not get all stinky! lol! I'm considering making these bags instead for yoga mat bags. The pattern that I currently use, is on the lilly website, and is more time consuming, but also more versatile (since it can be used as a market tote) but this would definitely be easier to make, so I can make them in bulk quickly! Thanks for posting this pattern!
Thank you so much for this pattern! I made this bag, and linked your pattern on my blog!

LOVE this baggggg!! I want one but I am soo not a crafty person :(
I want to buy it!!
Thank you for your nice comments! We only sell yarns and patterns, sorry :)
Am I doing something wrong? A sc in each stitch aroun is giving me a wavy pattern that is folding in on it's self and not straightening out. I feel silly because I swear I know how to crocet and read a pattern. What am I missing??
Candice, can it be that you have a thicker yarn than we used?
So pretty! I linked back to the pattern on my blog this morning for a New Year's Eve roundup: http://www.mooglyblog.com/new-year-new-free-patterns-to-crochet/
Thanks for sharing it! :D
:)
Hi, I was wondering... Do you make this bag for sale? I've been looking or a yoga mat bag and this one is perfect! I love the colors! Unfortunately I don't know how to do crochet (>_<)
No we don't.
What a lovely pattern! I'm attempting it now, since the straps on my yoga mat just broke, and this seems like such a beautiful replacement!
