Pelle´s cardigan

The Petra cardigan has been a popular pattern, and a lot of you have asked for a more maskuline version of it. Here it is, with more boyish details and design.

Yarn

Needles
32” and DP needles US 7 and 9

Gauge per 4”
14 s

Measurements, lying flat
Chest width: 11.8 (12.6) 13.4 (14.2) 15.3”
Length: 11.6 (14.2) 16.1 (17.7) 18.9”
Garter stitch:
Back and forth: Only knit stitches
In the round: Knit 1 round, Purl 1 round

The body
Cast on 85 s in the main colour using circular needles US 7.
Knit garter stitch back and fort in ther main colour (MC).
Place marker (PM) after the first 19 stitches and before the 19 last stitches = 47 in between.

Continue in stockinette on US 9 on a row from the right side after about 1.6”  
On the first row, increase 1 s ineach s by knitting in both front and back loop on all s before the first marker and after the second marker. This is for pockets.
Turn, and place all even numbered stitches on a spare needle BEHIND the work (the stitches need to lie in front of the piece on the right side to work as pockets).

When the piece is 10.6“ cast off 4 s in each side, 2 s on each side of the marker = 77 s.
Put the piece aside.

Sleeves
Cast on 25 s on DP needles US 7.
Knit garter stitch in the round.
Continue in stockinette on US 9 after about 1.6”  
Increase 1 stitch on each side of the first and last s of the round. Increase like this every 1.2” 7 times in total.
Cast off the first two and last rwo s of the round when the sleeve is 9.8”  = 35 s.
Knit another sleeve.

Yoke
Place all s onto the same circular neeldes, with the cast off-edges facing eachother.
= 147 stitches
Continue in stockinette for about 1.2”

Start knitting garter stitch on a row from the wrong side.
*Knit 2 rows in pattern colour (PC). Knit 2 rows in MC, and cast off 11 s evenly (by knitting 2 together) on row 2*
Repeaft from * to * 8 times in total.
AT THE SAME TIME cast off for collor after completing 3 og the repetitions above.
Cast off for collar by K2tog at the beginning and end of the first row of PC
=10 s casted off for collar.
= 49 left on the needle.
Knit one last row and cast off 4 s evenly = 45 s.

Front bands
Leave the s on the needles, and use the same needles to pick up 48 s along each side of the cardigan.
Knit back and forth in garter stitch for about 1.2”.
On the next row from the right side, knit until 40 s remains. Make button holes:
*K2tog, YO, K5*
Repeat from * to * 5 times in total.
K2tog, YO, knit until the end of the row.
Continue in garter stitch until the fron band is about 2.4”
Cast off loosely.

Pockets
Knit back and forth in stockinette until the pocket is about 3.1 (3.5) 3.9 (3.9) 4.3”
Cast off. Sew under the sleeves and along the pockets.
