Decrease round: knit until 2 s left before the first marker, slip 2 s knitwise, put them back on the left needle and knit them together through back loops. Knit until the next marker. K 2 tog. Repeat for the other side.
Repeat the decrease round every 0.8 inch until you have 6 s left between the markers in each side. (=76 s) Bind off the 6 s in each side and put aside while making the arms.
Cast on 24 s on US 9 PD needles. Knit garter in the round for 1 inch. Continue in stockinette. PM on each side of the first and the last stitch on the round. This is in the middle under the arm. Make 1 stitch on each side of the markers (2 new stitches each time) every 2 inch 4 times alltogether (=32 s) Continue until the arm measures about 10.5 inches. Bind off 6 s under the arm. Knit another.
Line up all the parts on the circular needle, and PM between the parts, 4 marks altogether. The round starts in the front, by the right arm. Knit stockinette in the round. Knit until you are 11 s past the last (4th) marker. Purl 10 s. (This is the stitches for the neck opening edge, and are to be knitted in garter stitch from now on out.) Knit the last 11 s on the round.
On the next round decrease like this:
Round 1: Knit until 3 s is left before the first marker, slip 2 s knitwise, put them back on the left needle and knit them together through back loops. Knit 1 s past the same marker. K2tog. Repeat for the 3 other markers.
Round 2: Knit.
Repeat the two rounds another 2 (3) 4 (5) 6 times.
Turn on a round 1 when you get to the middle of the neck opening and knit back and forth from now on. Don´t forget to knit the edge bands in garter. Beware that you will have to purl on one side of the opening, and knit on the other to get the garter ridges right, due to the turning in the middle of it.
Row 1: Purl.
Row 2: Knit until 3 s is left before the first marker, slip 2 s knitwise, put them back on the left needle and knit them together through back loops. Knit 1 s past the same marker. K2tog. Repeat for the 3 other markers.
Repeat the two rows until you have used all the stitches that you have on the front pieces. (Leave the two stitches before the marker to make the raglan look good at the top. (=40 (44) 48 (48) 56 s) PM on each side of the two s in the middle back. Knit three rows of stockinette. On the next row from the right side knit like this:
Increase row: Knit until the first marker. Make 1 s. Knit past the next marker, Make 1 s.
Purl 1 row.
Repeat 9 times. (= 62 s) Continue in stockinette until the hood measures 8.5 inches from where you started the increases. Assemble with Kitchener stitch, use garter technique for the edge and stockinette technique for the rest. Sew the under arm seams and weave in all loose ends.
