The cardigan is knitted top-down.

Cast on 54 s on circular needles US 9.
Place  4 markers (PM) after stitch 6 - 12 - 42  and 48 to mark where to increase.

Knit the cardigan back and forth in stockinette. 
After 2 rows, start increasing on every row from the right side like this:
Knit until you´re 1 stitch away from the PM, M1R (make 1 right= increase 1), K2, M1L (make 1 left= increase 1). Repeat on the other 3 PMs.
AT THE SAME TIME increase at the beginning and end of the row every 4th row from the right side. Do this 5 times in total.

After increasing 26 times in total at the PMs you will have 268 s.
Put the stitches for the sleeves on to spare needles (the stitches between PM 1 and 2 and between PM 3 and 4).


The body
Knit the front and back pieces together from here on. Cast on 4 new stitches in each side = 160 s.

Knit 1 rows in stockinette.

We knitted a variation of 7 rows stockinette and a random number of rows in garter stitch.
Between the rows of stockinette we knitted the following number of garter stitch rows:
8-4-12-6-10-3-16. 
At the last row of stockinette before the last 16 rows of garter stitch, decrease 14 s evenly. Cast off after the last 16 rows.

Sleeves
Cast on 4 new stitches right under the sleeve = 58 s. Knit stockinette in the round until the sleeve is 17.7”.  AT THE SAME TIME decrease on each side of the two stitches right under the sleeve by K2tog every 4” 4 times in total.
Decrease 8 s evenly on the last round of stockinette before purling every second round 8 times. Cast off. Knit the other sleeve.


Collar
Pick up 202 s along the neckline and front bands.
Start from the wrong side and knit garter stitch back and fort.
Make button holes on the left front band after about 1”. 
K 4, YO, K2tog *K 9, YO, K2tog*
Repeat from * to * 4 times in total.
Knit until the front bands are about 2”. Cast off 48 s, K 106, cast off 48 s. Cut the yarn and start knitting the remaining stitches (remember to start from the correct side) 
K2tog at the start of each row 14 times on each side. Then decrease 2 stitches at the beginning of the two nest rows. Knit 1 row. Cast off loosely.
