Plain x-mas vest with bow tie

We used nature and purple. All the multi colours will go well with grey kitten or nature.

Cast on 108 s using 2 strands in the main colour. The whole piece is knitted with double strands.

*Knit 1 round, purl 1*


Repeat from * to * 8 times in total.

Start knitting in stockinette. Increase 8 s = 116 s. Knit 3 rounds. Start knitting stripes of 2 and 2 rounds. We used one strand main colour together with 1 strand multicolour for the coloured stripes. This will tone the multi colour down a bit.


Knit like this until the piece is about 7.9”, and you´vé just finished a coloured stripe. Use only the main colour from here.
Knit until the piece is 8.6”

Place marker (PM) in each side, with 58 s inbetween.

Continue in stockinette, but purl every second round over the 12 stitches in each side (6 on each side of the marker) Start purling these thitches on the first round.
After 5 rounds, cast of 4 stitches in each side (2 on each side of the marker)
= 54 s on each side.
Knit the front and the back piece seperately from here.

Front piece
Knit back and forth. Continue to work the remaining stitches where you purled and knitted every second round in garter stitch. Knit the rest in stockinette.
Start knitting only in garter stitch for 6 rows when the piece is 12.6”.
Cast off for opening for the head:
K 14, cast off 23, K 14.
Knit 10 rows in garter stitch on each side of the front piece.
(finish after a row from the wrong side, and leave the stitches on the needles)

Back piece
Knit back and forth. Continue to work the remaining stitches where you purled and knitted every second round in garter stitch. Knit the rest in stockinette.
Start knitting only in garter stitch when the piece is 12.6”.
When the piece is as long as the front piece, and you´ve just finished a row from the wrong side. 

Use kitchener´s stitch to assemble the shoulders. Cast off the remaing stitches in the middle.

If you don´t want to use the kitchener´s stitch, knit a couple of rows more before casting off, and assemble.

Bow tie
Cast on 13 s on US 2 1/2 using double strands Pickles Merino Silk. Knit moss-stitch, K1,P1 back and forth for about 2”.
Whirl the yarn 5 times tighly around the whole piece.
Continue in moss-stitch for another 2”. The first rows might be a bit tricky to knit. Cast off tightly from the wrong side.
Shape the bow tie, attatch a wide elastic band to it with a button the back.
