Quick Knit Winter Kit
Once it gets cold you think that you forgot about making mittens and ear warmers this year too. This year you´ll actually manage anyway. This kit is so quick that you´ll be done in a night.
Yarn
Abuelita Rasta, 200 g. Start knitting the mittens.
Needles
Circular needle 16" and DP needles, US 15.
Gauge
9 s = 4"
Mittens
The mittens will felt a bit when you start using them.
Cast on 18 stitches on DP needles US 15. 9 stitches on one side (needles 1 and 2), 9 stitches on the other side (needles 3 and 4)
Knit stockinette in the round until the piece is 2"
Increase for thumb like this:
K1, increase 1 (make 1 right), knit until 1 stitch remains on the round. increase 1 (make 1 left), K1.
Knit 1 round
Repeat the paragraph above 3 times in total.
Place the 3 first and the 3 last stitches of the round on a spare needle for thumb.
Cast on 2 new stitches under the hole for the thumb. Continue in stockinette until the mitten is about 7.5" (or a bit more if you´ve got long hands)
Start decreasing like this:
K2tog, knit until 2 stitches remain on the second needle, SSK.
Repeat on the other side.
Knit 1 round.
Repeat the paragraph above until 4 stitches remain on each side. Assemble using the kitchener´s stitch or cast off and sew the ends together.
Thumb
Cast on 2 stitches right under the thumb. Knit stockinette in the round until the thumb is 2". K2tog for 1 round. Pull the yarn through the rest of the stitches.
Make another one;)
Head band
Cast on 50 stitches on small circular needles.Knit stockinette in the round until you´re almost out of yarn. Cast off and you´re good to go;)
