Runde 5: Use main colour. Slip 1 s (this s will be used as the last s of the round to make the stitch pattern seamless).*K1, K2tog, slip 1 with yarn in back, SSK*.

Repeat between * and * until end of round.

When the piece is 7.8”, and you have completed a round 6, knit 1 round in main colour.
Knit this decrease round:
*Slip 2 s as if you were to K2tog, K1, lift the 2 s you slipped over this stitch. K1*.
Repeat between * and * until end of round = 84 s.

Continue in stockinette in main colour for about 3.1”.
Part the piece into front and back pieces, at the beginning of the round and after 42 s.
Knit the back piece back and forth in stockinette until it is 13.4”.
Knit 2 rows in stockinette in pattern colour.
Shoulder piece:
K the first 12 s back and forth in garter stitch for about 1.8” . Cast off.
Cast off the following stitches until 12 s remain in the other side.
Knit these back and forth in garter stitch for about 1.8" . Cast off.

Knit the front piece in the same way, but knit the shoulder pieces like this:
K 12 back and forth in garter s for about 0.3”. On the next row knit button holes like this: K2, K2tog, YO, knit until 4 s remain, YO, K2tog, K2.

I-cord
Make an i-cord in pattern colour like this:
Cast on 4 s on DP needle 2 1/2.
*K4, slip the s from the left to the right side of the needle with yarn in back. Knit the s from the same direction*
Repeat between * and * until the i-cord is long enough to tie around the waist.

Tip: As the skirt is quite heavy, you can make loops around the waist for the belt to sit better. Single crochet where you want to put the loop in the dress. Then single crochet 5-6 times and connect the loop to the dress again. Make as many of these as desired.

The edge at the bottom can be folded up and assembled from the inside if desired.
