Sweetheart socks

You might think it´s weird wearing the same clothes as you boyfriend. But when it comes to socks, we think it´s just charming;) To avoid you looking like twins, the colours in the lady sock are reversed in the men´s sock.

WOMEN´S SOCKS
Materials
2 balls of Pickles Extra Fine Merino, colour 1
1 ball of Pickles Extra Fine Merino, colour 2
Double pointed needles, US 6

Abbreviations
S = stitches
K= knit
P= purl
K2tog= Knit two stitches together
P2tog= Purl two stitches together
Ssk= slip slip knit

Cast on 48 s on needles US6, 12 s on each needle.
Rib
K 2, P 2
7 rounds of colour 1
4 rounds of colour 2
4 rounds of colour 1
Keep on knitting 4 rows of each colour until you have seven stripes in colour 2.

Heel
Knit in stockinette back and forth over needle 1 and 4. Use double strands of colour 1 to make the heel stronger. Always slip the first stitch off the needle.
Knit until the heel is 2.2”.
K 15, ssk, turn
Slip 1 with yarn in front, P 6, P2tog, turn.
Slip 1, K 6, ssk, turn. *
Repeat from * to * until 8 stitches remain, put 4 stitches on each needle if you have swapped to one instead of two needles.

Foot
Knit 1 round
* K 15, K2tog, K 24, ssk, K 15
Knit 1 round
Use colour 1
K 14, K2tog, K 24, ssk, K 14
Knit 1 round
K 13, K2tog, K 24, ssk, K 13
Knit 1 round
Use colour 2. *
Repeat from * to *, but reduce the first and last number of stitches you knit with 1 each time (Meaning that you´ll knit 12 next round.)
Stop decreasing when 44 stitches remain.
Knit 4 stripes of colour 2 in size 36-38, and five in size 39-40.

Shaping the toe
Use colour 1.
K 8, K2tog, K 2, ssk, K16, K2tog, K 2, ssk, K 8
K 1 round
K 7, K2tog, K 2, ssk, K 14, K2tog, K 2, ssk, K 7
K 1 round
Keep on decreasing like this every row until 12 stitches remain, you knit one less stitch in the beginning and the end, and to less in the middle. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches. Assemble the ends.

MEN´S SOCKS

Materials
2 balls of Pickles Extra Fine Merino, colour 1 (same as colour 2 for women´s socks)
1 ball of Pickles Extra Fine Merino, colour 2 (same as colour 1 for women´s socks)
Double pointed needles, US 6

K= knit

Cast on 52 s on needles US6,

Rib
K 2, P 2
8 rounds of colour 1
4 rounds of colour 2
4 rounds of colour 1
Keep on knitting 4 rows of each colour until you have seven stripes in colour 2.

Heel

Foot
Pick up 8 stitches with double strands from each side of the heel.
Knit with a single strand in colour 1.
Start on needle 1 (in the middle of the 8 stitches left over from the heel). Knit each of the strands of the stitches you have picked up, you should end up with 16 new stitches on each side=66 s altogether.
K 4 rounds of colour 1.

Shaping the foot
Use colour 2.
K 18. K2tog, K 26, ssk, k 18.
Knit 1 round
* K 17, K2tog, K 26, ssk, K 17
Knit 1 round
Use colour 1
K 16, K2tog, K 26, ssk, K 16
Knit 1 round
K 15, K2tog, K 26, ssk, K 15
Knit 1 round
Use colour 2. *
Repeat from * to *, but reduce the first and last number of stitches you knit with 1 each time (Meaning that you´ll knit 14 next round.)

Stop decreasing when 48 stitches remain.
Knit 5 stripes of colour 2 for size 40-42, and six in size 43-46.

Shaping the toe
Use colour 1.
K 9, K2tog, K 2, ssk, K 18, K2tog, K 2, ssk, K 9
K 1 round
K 8, K2tog, K2, ssk, K14, K2tog, K2, ssk, K 8
K 1 round
Keep on decreasing like this every row until 12 stitches remain, you knit one less stitch in the beginning and the end, and to less in the middle. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches. Assemble the ends.
