2 s = 1” (Stretched lengthwise)

Pattern
To find out how many stitches to cast on, measure the height of your lampshade and multiply the number (in inches) with 2.

The sum = number of stitches to cast on. Round up to nearest stitch.

Cast on the calculated number of stitches with provisional cast on. Knit garter back and forth until your piece is long enough to go around your shade. Remember to stretch while measuring. Weave ends together with Kitchener stitch. If you find these tecniques too complicated, cast on and bind of as you usually do and sew ends together. This will give you a visible seam, but that can of course be hidden towards the wall ;) Weave in all ends.
