<p><strong>Pattern:</strong></p>
<p>Knit in the round. Materials: 3 skeins of <a href="http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/no/visgarn.php?garn=Eskimo" target="_blank">Drops Eskimo</a>. Cast on 28 stitches on 6 mm DPNs. Work in stockinette for 15 rounds. PM on each side of two stitches in the middle of the round. <a href="http://www.knittinghelp.com/apps/flash/video_player/play/86/1" target="_blank">M1</a> on each side of the markers every 4th row 4 times. (Until you have 8 more stitches) Place the new stitches + the two in between the markers on a thread.(= 10 stitches on the thread)</p>
<p>Continue the round in stockinette, <a href="http://www.knittinghelp.com/apps/flash/video_player/play/35/1" target="_blank">cast on 2 new stitches</a> under the thumb when you get there again. Work until the mitt is long enough for you hand. Then work finishing rounds like this:</p>
<p>Round 1: K1, <a href="http://www.knittinghelp.com/apps/flash/video_player/play/66/1" target="_blank">K2 togtbl</a>, K2 togtbl, K4, K2 tog, K2 tog, K2, K2 togtbl, K2 togtbl, K4, K2tog, K2tog, K1.</p>
<p>Round 2 and 3: Knit</p>
<p>Round 4: K1, K2 togtbl, K2 togtbl, K2tog, K2tog, K2, K2 togtbl, K2 togtbl, K2tog, K2tog, K1.</p>
<p>Weave together the last 12 stitches with <a href="http://www.knittinghelp.com/apps/flash/video_player/play/189/1" target="_blank">kitchener stitch</a>.</p>
<p>Thumb: Use DPNs. Pick up 3 stitches under the thumb (13 stitches all together). Knit until long enough.</p>
<p>Finishing round: * K2, K2tog* K3. Sew the last 10 stiches with kitchener stitch.</p>
<p>Make another one and decorate!</p>
<p>How to do the duplicate stitch:</p>
<p><span class="full-image-block ssNonEditable"><span><img src="http://www.pickles.no/storage/varme-vintervotter/votter_sting1.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1234015419800" alt="" /></span></span></p>
<p>Needle goes up under the stitch you want to duplicate.</p>
<p><span class="full-image-block ssNonEditable"><span><img src="http://www.pickles.no/storage/varme-vintervotter/votter_sting2.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1234015450047" alt="" /></span></span></p>
<p>Then through the one over it...</p>
<p><span class="full-image-block ssNonEditable"><span><img src="http://www.pickles.no/storage/varme-vintervotter/votte_sting3.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1234015467903" alt="" /></span></span></p>
<p>And down where it came from. Voila!</p>
<p>Weave in all ends and run your mitts a couple rounds in the laundry mashine. We only want a slightly felted effect, so that they keep their softness. It may be a good idea to do a short spin first and then another if needed.</p>

<p>Mitts before felting.</p>
