3 balls Pickles Pure Thick Alpaca

Needles
Small circular needles and DP needles US 9

Gauge
13 stitches = 4”
Hat
Cast on 60 stitches on circular needles US 9. Knti a rib in the round, K2, P2 for about 2”.
Start knitting moss stitches, K1, P1 over the next 22 stitches while evenly increasing 5 stitches.
Place marker (PM)
P2
K 10 while evenly increasing 2 stitches
Place marker (PM)

Knit moss stitches P1, K1 (Note: start with a purl stitch) for the rest of the round while evenly increasing 5 stitches.

You´ll now have 72 stitches.

Round 1:
Moss stitch, P1, K1 until you reach the PM.
P2, K12, P2.
Moss stitch, K1, P1 for the rest of the round.
Round 2:
Moss stitch, K1, P1 until you reach the PM.
P2, K12, P2.
Moss stitch, P1, K1 for the rest of the round.

Repeat these 2 rounds until the work is 7”. AT THE SAME TIME, you´ll cross cables in round 10, 26 and 42 (counted from where the pattern started).
Knit the cable like this:
When you reach the 12 knitted stitches in the front, you´ll put the first 6 stitches on a spare needle. Knit the next 6 with the spare needle behind your work. Then knit the stitches on the spare needle. Tighten the yarn at the beginning and end of the cable to avoid holes.

Decrease:
Start knitting in stockinette. You´ll now decrease throughout the round, but leave the 16 stitches between the PMs in the front.
Knit the other stitches like this:
*K 2, K2tog*
Repeat from * to * throughout the round.
K2 rounds
*K 1, K2tog*
Repeat from * to * throughout the round.
K2 rounds
*K2tog*
Repeat from * to * throughout the round.
Cut the yarn and put it through the remaninig stitches. Pull and weave the end.

Make a large, loose pom pom and attach it to the top.

Fingerless gloves
Start knitting at the bottom.
Cast on 24 stitches on DP needles US 9.
Knit a rib in the round, K2, P2 for about 1.6”.

Start knitting moss stitches, K1, P1 over the next 6 stitches while evenly increasing 2 stitches.

Knit moss stitches P1, K1 (Note: start with a purl) over the next 4 stitches while evenly increasing 2 stitches.

Place the 12 knit stitches in the middle on needles 2 and 3, 6 stitches on each. Place the other stitches on needles 1 and 4.
Continue like this:

Round 1:
Moss stitch, P1, K1 until 2 stitches remain on needle 1
P2, K12, P2
Moss stitch, K1, P1 for the rest of the round.
Round 2:
Moss stitch, K1, P1 until 2 stitches remain on needle 1
P2, K12, P2.
Moss stitch, P1, K1 for the rest of the round.

After 4 rounds, you´ll knit in an opening for the thumb.
On the first glove, you´ll knit 5 stitches in a contrasting colour after the first 3 stitches on needle 1.
On the second glove you´ll knit the 5 stitches after having purled 2 on needle 4.

On round 10 and 26 (counted from where the pattern started), you´ll make a cable by knitting needle 3 before you´re knitting needle 2.
On the first glove, put needle 2 behind the work while knitting needle 3. On the second glove, put needle 2 in front of your work.
After 36 rounds (from where the pattern started), start knitting a rib, K2, P2.
AT THE SAME TIME, decrease 2 stitches evenly on needle 1 (NOT over the last 2 purl-stitches), decrease 1 stitch on needle 2 and 1 on needle 3, and decrease 2 stitches on needle 4 (NOT over the first 2 purl-stitches).

Knit a rib for 1.6”. Cast off loosely!

Thumb:
Pick up 5 stitches on each side of the contrasting yarn stitches. Loosen the yarn and pull it out. Cast on one stitch in each side, and knit a rib in the round, K1, P1 for 4 rounds. Cast off.
