Pattern
Cast on 74 s on circular needles US 6. Knit ribbing back and forth, k1, p1 for 2.5”. On the next row from the right side knit while making 10 new s evenly distributed along the row. Make stitches by picking up the yarn in between two stitches, make a loop that you place on the left needle and knit. (= 84 s)

Switch to US 8 circular needles. Repeat the following 4 rows until your piece measures 8.2” (short) or 12.2 (long):

Row 1: *Knit 3 times in the same stitch like this: K1, YO, K1 in the same stitch before letting it off the left needle. Purl 3 s tog.* Repeat throughout the row.

Row 2: Knit.

Row 3: *Purl 3 s tog. Knit 3 times in the same stitch like this: K1, YO, K1 in the same stitch before letting it off the left needle.* Repeat throughout the row.

Pinne 4: Knit.

Start increasing for arms. Continue in stitch pattern, but on the end of each row make 4 stitches by making backward loops around the needle. Knit the new stitches in stitch pattern on the next row. Increase like this 3 times altogether on each side. (= 108 s)

Then make 44 s 1 time on each side. Continue in stitch pattern until your piece measures 15 “.

Bind off stitches for neck opening like this:

K 88 s, bind off 20 s, k 88 s.

Knit each side separately for a while. Continue in stitch pattern but bind off 4 s on the neck side on every 2. row 3 times on each side. (= 76 s on each side) Continue until your piece measures 17 “. Then on the next row make 4 stitches towards the neck. Leave all the stitches on a spare needle while knitting the other side. Knit the other side the same way, but opposite.

When both sides are finished make 36 stitches in the neck opening and join the two sides. Make sure you are following the stitch pattern correctly. Continue until the back part is the same length as to where you did the last increase for arms on the front. Bind off 44 s on each side. Bind off when knitting inwards from the sides, so you don´t have to cut the working yarn. Then bind off in the same manner 4 s on each side on every row 3 times. (Exactly the opposite of what you did on the front). Continue down to the rib edge. Switch to US 6 needles and decrease 10 (14) 18 s evenly on a right side row. Knit ribbing for 2.5”. Bind off loosely on a wrong side row.

Fold the sweater and sew along the sides and arms. Pick up 32 s around each arm (or as many as you like to make it fit perfectly) and knit ribbing as before for 2”. Bind off.

Pick up 82 s around the neck distributed like this: 18 s back one side, 23 s front one side, 23 s front other side, 18 s back other side. Knit ribbing for 2”. Bind off a bit on the tight side.
