Pickles Window Takeover – A Showcase for Knitwear Design

We’ve been so excited to launch this! The first designer featured in the Pickles Window Takeover is Annarkiv with her Quiet Stripes Collection. This stunning collection includes the Quiet Stripes Sweater, Quiet Stripes Tee, Sjalaclava, and Quiet Stripes Scarf. The pieces are defined by stripes that shape the garments, creating a look that’s both intriguing and subtle at the same time. We absolutely love this collection from our former knitting colleague, Anna.

In Markveien, in the heart of Oslo, we offer knitwear designers the opportunity to showcase their creations in our shop window. This is a unique chance for designers to present their work to a wide audience, while we celebrate knitting design as an art form.

The Quiet Stripes Collection came to life much like most of the things I create. I discover a technique or a method of increasing or decreasing stitches that sparks my interest, and I explore it through swatches, sketches, and ideas. In this case, it all started with a scarf, which evolved into the Sjalaclava, and eventually turned into both a sweater and a tee. The principle behind the collection is wide rib knitting that either grows out of centrally placed increases or seamlessly merges through centrally placed decreases.

Anna has created patterns for all the pieces in the collection. You can choose to purchase a yarn kit with the pattern from us or buy the pattern as a PDF directly from the designer.

This weekend, you can meet Anna at our store in Markveien 56, Oslo, between 12:00 and 13:00 on Saturday and get advice on yarn choices and color combinations. We look forward to seeing you!

What is Pickles Window Takeover?

Pickles Window Takeover is a concept where selected knitting designers are given the opportunity to use our store window as a mini exhibition. The concept builds on previous successes and is now returning in a new format. Each designer has one week to showcase their creations, and during this time, the window becomes a living part of their creative universe. It can include everything from garments and accessories to more experimental knitting projects. Some choose to create patterns, while others view it as a pure art project, focusing on exploring textures, shapes, and techniques.

Why are we doing this?

At Pickles, we are passionate about knitting, creativity, and good craftsmanship traditions, and we want to provide designers with a platform where they can receive the attention they deserve. The window display gives passersby a small glimpse of what’s happening in the knitting community – and maybe even some inspiration for their next project!

Who can participate?

We select designers who have a clear signature and a strong expression in their work. The designers will also have the opportunity to be present on the launch day to meet customers and talk about their creations. If you’re a knitting designer and would like to be a part of the Pickles Window Takeover, we’d love to hear from you! Contact us for more information on how to apply.

When can you see the exhibitions?

The exhibitions take place intermittently, so it’s always exciting to see what will appear in the window next! Follow us on social media – we’d love to hear which designers you’d like to see in future exhibitions! Stay tuned on our social media and website for updates on upcoming exhibitions and which designers will take over the window next.

Come by Markveien and let yourself be inspired by amazing knitting designs – we look forward to sharing this journey with you!
