This vest is knit in one strand each of cotton and merino wool and is just right for when the air gets chilly again after summer. It´s knitted on big needles, and we love both the look of it and how quick it went. And beat this: It has one end only to weave in! :)

Two rows make one garter ridge. Decreases is done by knitting 2 stitches together.
Cast on 80 s on US 9 needles. Knit 7 garter ridges. Continue in stockinette, but knit the 5 first and 5 last stitches of each row in garter stitch for edges. This goes for the rest of the pattern even if it is not mentioned on each row.
Knit until your piece measures 8 inches. Then on your next row from the right side knit like this: Knit 18 s, bind off 6 s, knit 32 s, bind off 6 s, knit 18 s.

On the next row knit until the arm opening, make 16 new stitches over the arm opening. Knit until the other arm opening and repeat.
On the next row make a button hole like this: K2, YO, K2tog. K until end of row.
On the next row K while decreasing 18 s evenly. K 3 rows.
On the next row K while decreasing 14 s evenly. K 3 rows.
On the next row K while decreasing 12 s evenly. K 3 rows.
On the next row make another button hole, and decrease 8 s evenly. K 2 rows. Bind off.
