All girls should have a tunic with daisies around the shoulders. Easy to knit once you get the daisy tecnique, and lasts for a long time.
Tip: Give enough yarn when knitting the daisies, do not pull it tight.
Knit in the round. Cast on 152 s on circular needles. Work ribbing, k2, p2 for 1.5 “. Continue in stockinette. Increase 36 s evenly on the first round of stockinette (= 188 s.)
Place a marker after 94 s and at the beginning of the round to mark the sides of the dress.
Work until the piece measures 21.5 “. On the next round decrease 24 s in the following manner:
K2tog 6 times. Knit until 12 s is left before your next marker. K2tog 12 times. Knit until 12 s is left before your first marker. K2tog 6 times.
Continue until you have 4 s left before your next marker. Bind off 8 s. Continue until you have 4 s left before your first marker and repeat the bind off for the other side.
Put aside while making the arms
Arms
Cast on 64 s on double pointed needles and work ribbing, k2, p2 for 1.5 “. Bind off 8 s under the arm. (= 56 s.)
Make another arm and line up all the parts on the circular needle. The round now starts in the middle back. You have 260 s alltogether.
Daisy part
Change to daisy colour #1.
Round 1: Knit.
Round 2: *K3tog but don´t let them go off the left needle. YO, Knit the same 3 s together again. P1* Repeat between * and * throughout the round.
Change to daisy colour #2.
Round 3: Knit
Round 4: Slip 1 s. *P1. K3tog but don´t let them go off the left needle. YO, Knit the same 3 s together again.* Repeat between * and * throughout the round. After working the last stitch, put it back on the left needle again.
Change to daisy colour #2.
Repeat round 1 and 2.
Change to main colour
Knit one round while decreasing according to the size you are knitting. (See decrease rounds) Decrease by knitting 2 together.
Purl one round.
Repeat the daisy part until you have a total of 7 rows x 3 daisy rounds and there is 100 s left for the neck opening.
Do not decrease mathematically evenly, but spread the decreases around a little on each round to achieve the best result.
After the last decrease round for your size, do not purl round, but work ribbing for 1” and bind off.
Decrease rounds
Round 1: decrease 36 s
Round 2: decrease 32 s
Round 3: decrease 24 s
Round 4: decrease 24 s
Round 5: decrease 20 s
Round 6: decrease 16 s
Round 7: decrease 8 s
